It definitely looks like the interest and the means are here to start the workshops early in the New Year.

I will be away in France for a good part of December so I can't put any effort into the organization until I get back. In the mean time keep those ideas and offers of help coming.

I also wouldn't mind a beginners guide to darkroom technique.

I'd be up for hosting a workshop on LR & Ps post production. Finding time between projects is going to be the hard part but it's something I'd like to do again.

Jeremy, as you know, I'll be willing to host the LR workshop again at CAMH.

That's awesome. This week I should hear back on the dates for two agency jobs so once I do I can set my schedule and find a day that works. Thanks again I really appreciate the venue because it's easy to get to by car or transit.

Thats great new!

Since you, Brian and George have all volunteered for post processing maybe it might be good to get in touch with each other to work out a plan where you each concentrate on a different aspect or different level? A sort of rough lesson plan so to say.

Eventually I would be nice to post a whole list of workshops and their contents.

Thanks Ryan for following up on this, I really appreciate your efforts.

This weekend I'm going to check and see if we can have the space @ Ryerson studio for a weekend session this winter.

If the space becomes available we'll host an "Intro to lighting with small flashes" session @ the studio, should be able to hold about 20 people max and it has to be on the weekend.

something that I'm interested in learning (and don't recall ever been offered by this group) is a theoretical/workshop on printing, anything that would help with printing techniques, even a PS printing primer would do!

I would like to attend a session on darkroom techniques or an intro to large format photography.

I could offer a session on basics of digital photography..

Andy thanks for the offer of help.

Printing might be do able we could rent a workstation at pikto and actually do some prints in real time well discussing profiles and monitor calibrations. I will have to talk with one of the owners to make sure it doesn't conflict with any workshops that they hold.

Just thought I list some areas where we might need some additional instructors.

- Portraits (If necessary I can bring in someone I know from outside TPMG)

- Food (I have some yummy potential locations already lined up)

- Macro and small product

- Photographic: Large Format and Development

Love the workshop idea.

Would welcome any workshops on Lighting, and low-light shooting. Portrait shots would be another great workshop, and some PP workshops (Specifically using Light Room) would be great.

wow! this is a great idea!

i'd love to learn more about photoshop (since all i know in photoshop is how to adjust levels, curves, hues, saturation and cropping) and film processing (darkroom stuff).

but i'll definitely try to attend all the workshops. it's always good to keep learning stuff.

cheers!

:D

I'm fairly well versed in photoshop and could give a tutorial or two about typical procedures and practices.

I'd also love post processing (I can do levels, curves etc but I've been relying too much on actions), flash and especially food photography since I can't find a class anywhere in the city.

I'm also... with advance notice, don't mind being an instructor for
film darkroom(silver) techniques for beginner through advanced.

Just moved, so no actual darkroom setup yet.

I would be happy to instruct/co-instruct basic/intermediate flash and off-camera lighting sometimes, and I would love to take some photoshop/LR courses as well. This is a great idea and if anyone needs help organizing or planning with logistics, give me a shout.

I'd definitely be interested in your next workflow kung fu session! :D

Also very much interested in learning some intermediate techniques, especially in the area of flash photography and portraiture.

Ahh great topic. I am a meetup organizer myself and pitched this idea to the members sometime in the summer. I had a very good response but the matter of finding an instructor turned out to be a problem. I told my memebrs that there might be a cost between $20-$50 and most were OK with it. Let me know how far you can go and I will try to bring more people.

Thanks

I would be very interested in off camera flash as well as portrait lighting with small strobes and thanks to all those that are offering to teach us newbies.

-Nature photography
-Portrait

Happy New Year

As a start to organizing the workshops I have started another thread for instructors

http://tpmg.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10368

I have also started a google website where hopefully we can start cataloguing the workshop descriptions.
