Maybe we should set up an event in Jane/Finch neighborhood?

Read all about it

Frankly, I find his results very boring, and the fake "film" look doesn't add to my liking it any bit.

If those are "studio-quality portraits of pedestrians" I hope he has a day job.

I admire the idea, but can't say I'm a fan of the instagram editing.

In the last couple of weeks I'm finding people more apprehensive when I do street photography. People are always more willing to hit inanimate objects than they are a person. That would be my fear driving around especially if there's even a moment for them to react. Some flying rock through the strobe or window.

Drive by shooting is technically illegal --- as camera's are included in the scope of portable devices banned by drivers while in the operation of a motor vehicle - same law as using cell phones, etc.

My D700 has an intervelometer, would using that still be illegal?

nope...... mount the camera, have it take photos automatically.... but the results would probably suck. :) Well, depends on where and when you are with the car. :)
