Is it just me or you guys see this as well...
I see there is a huge price drop on Nikon D600 compare to the Canon 6D
and Nikon D800 compared to the Canon 5D3.

Yes, they dropped the prices. Many of the stores were offering bundles as well. Nikon typically drops prices after 6-9 months on their bodies.

Nikon appears to be being aggressive. Canon appears to be a bit clueless... Doesn't appear to be hurting them though.

It's pretty crazy now.

I was at a store and the 5D MK3 23-205 kit was going for $3399 +tax, Canon 6D Kit was $2600 (TAX IN) the Nikon D600 kit was $2050 (TAX IN).

I was absolutely flabbergasted as I paid $2800 tax in for the 6D and thought I got a good deal, boy was I pissed. And this are from reputable sellers too!

OH, before you think I'm a vendor those prices are from different places. :P But yeah, I could have saved about $250 if I waited 2 days.

Is the D600 24-85 kit lens comparable to the Canon 24-105? Seems to me it's much cheaper, variable aperture, less zoom range... kinda makes it difficult to compare kits.

Anyone get in on the $299 Canon 50mm 1.4 deal? They still have stock at bhphoto if anyone is interested. Looks like they are clearing out stock to make room for the IS version which is rumoured.

IS version of 50mm 1.4? hmmm other than video, it's pointless!

Other than video .... Or panning, or low light.

I don't doubt the 'new' 50mm 1.4 IS will be very useful .. but at what cost? .. i.e. price increase, weight increase, etc

I got the Canon 5D Mark3 on launch and now it dropping less than $3K. Kinda feel sad with the fast drop, I would have waited to end of this year to buy one.

And it still needs to drop more. Canon is way outta line with their launch prices lately. Yet, they keep selling... Either that or Nikon is being very aggressive, which is possible. Aggressiveness of this type can show up in quality control issues. Not saying this is or is not the cause of their QC issues, just saying it's a possibility.

Not only are the bodies cheaper but the lenses are cheaper as well. Kind of hard to figure out given the amount of market share Canon has over Nikon.

Also there is a huge price difference between the Nikon D7000 and Canon 7D, these 2 cameras are close in their performance and there is about 500$ difference between th 2 cameras.
The 7D is so much more expensive then the D7000 and I am not sure why.

That's because the Canon 7D is more similar to a Nikon D300 in body and features (semi-pro body) those two are much more similar.

I think Canon might be getting a bit desperate with the competition in the video market. Until the end of the month they are offering 3 year 0% financing on their Cinema EOS line. Granted, a C300 or C500 is overkill for most people on these forums, but a C100 isn't too expensive

I'm not sure I'd call that desperate. Financing on items like that is not uncommon. For discussion let's say it is, we could then say Canon is being aggressive price wise because of competition much like we say Nikon is with their pricing from the last year.
