Hey guys, this Wednesday I will have an impromptu opportunity to do some club photography. I've never done this before, and would like some advice.
I have a Nikon D5100 with a 35mm f.18, and the Kit Lens, along with a sb-700 flash.

Will the 35mm be viable in this club setting?

Any other things I should look out for?

Thanks!

You'll want something wider.

Watch out for spilled drinks.

+1 on using a wider lens. If your kit lens goes to 17 that would be much better.

Bounce your flash off of the ceiling or wall. It will appear as though your light source is much larger and result in a "softer" light.

Experiment with "dragging the shutter"/"slow sync flash"
