Stumbled upon this today and it looks like a GO train, but I've never seen this area before. Are there other parts of the world that use GO trains or is this somewhere local?

looks like the view from Ernest Thompson seton park. the view is usually very unremarkable, but this image has a lot going for it. downtown in the background, fall colors, fog, the train. its either an aerial shot or done from the roof of the old "Inn on the park" hotel.

Looks like the tracks just past the Brickworks as it crosses over Bayview?

http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ll=43. ... 5&t=h&z=17

Note the shadow of the rail overpass. Then again, I can't see how the photographer got that angle. Helicopter?

Anyways, that's my best guess.

This was my thought when I say this photo too. As there are lots of water/streams down there to cause this fog.

Ok, I play again :D . I think we were off a bit. My 1st guess has metal Piers but the photo has concrete piers. The bridge at Brickworks only has 4 semi tall piers but the photo has at least 7 tall piers visible.
I think this time I found it. Location is over Humber River at Weston Golf and Country Club. Google map has a good satellite view that includes the golf green and the sand trap in the center of the shot along with the foot path behind the bridge. i think the photos are taken from the roof top of 2526 Weston Road.

The GO trains do not use the tracks that crosses over the Bayview extension or the one over Ernest Thompson seton park

I think Eddie's got it. Off of that rooftop or more likely one of the balconies.

I just realized that you can follow a car in earth view as long as the google van is traveling along the same route at the same time. I wonder if it can be used in a court of law?

The train looks placed in the photograph, it's just too clear compared to the surrounding area...so it could be where Go trains don't run, and done for dramatic effect.

Either that, or te fog was done by software with the train masked off.

Could very well be a composite of two shots. Either way, Eddie's location is dead on.

Awesome sleuthing thanks guys!! After looking at it again the tail end of the train does look a bit too bright, but still a stunning photograph regardless of what has been done to it. Didn't know we had scenery like this in the province haha.

It looks like a composite - the train is completely straight but the track and bridge curve to the left and upwards when following it from left to right.

That's not it. GO trains don't run on that track.
