Hi guys,

I know most of the good places in Toronto for wedding photography which all have their various forms of permits and costs - but are there any good spots that you wedding folks can recommend that are lower cost or no cost - aside from just stopping a limo on the side of the street and having photos taken on public space.

thanks!

You might want to consider just chatting up the security folk there to give them a heads up. Our office does the corp office shots there and it is always cleared through security and building facilities. Never a problem, unless you will be impeding the entrances or requiring power access.

Thanks, I won't be the photographer. It's my brother in law and his fiance.... So I'll let them know.

I don't know if it is still free - but it was when my brother had his wedding a few years ago - but Alexander Muir Park is quite nice for photos (Yonge and Lawrence area - just south of Lawrence)

Thanks Jordan, They wanted something downtownish ... which I immediately informed them that most of the major locations required permits. They looked into a bunch of locations that had permits required which I recommended, but just looking at free or lower cost options as well. I personally hope that they just put up and get a permit for the distillery - as I do love that as a location.

When I got married we had our photos taken at the feed mill in Uxbridge - and being a rural location was rather easy to crash the site without any permits required.

I got mine done at Alexander Muir last August and it is roughly $60/hr. You can roll the dice and not permit the day but it would be a shame to be booted out on such an important day. My wife and I surveyed the park a couple of times prior, at peak times, and encountered two or three wedding parties, although when we did our actual shoot we were the only party there.

Osgoode Hall sounds nice and it is free!

How about waiting until the scramble crosswalk is on at Yonge/Dundas and do an impropmtu shot in the middle of the crosswalk on a busy Saturday? Oh wait, that's been done every weekend so far this season :D

Princess Gate Wedding In Infrared

Several years ago I took this infrared shot of a wedding party using the Princess Gate at the exhibition grounds.

That would be the entrance to out athletic centre. If it was pretty much a hit & run shoot, then I doubt that there would be any trouble with security. Other than that try calling them at 416-979-5000 ext. 5040 and ask.

Not sure if that's the real Gulnara either! Highly doubt it...according to Facebook.

Either way, Gulnara is one of the coolest and down to earth photogs I've met. I didn't realize who she really was until much after, one of the photographers from AP covering 9/11! Do check out her site and her work though!

Yesterday, I saw a wedding party shoot on the Niagara Parkway, beneath the Rainbow Bridge. Everyone lined up with their backs to a concrete bridge abutment, looking happy as can be. I figured the bridge had to have played a part in the couple getting together.
Is there anything in the background of your couple that might serve as an interesting, and free, backdrop?

I was going to say, nothing is free around the GTA. I think you have to drive to Kleinberg.
