Just finished my first photobook.. It's a personal book of my collection of photos since I started photography .. Have a look and let me know what you think! .. The cover is chopped in the viewer for some reason not in real life.. and the images are a bit low rez in the viewer but have a look.. any suggestions would be appreciated!

Watermarks on some images i need to get rid of I'm aware of that :P

I'd really like to know where some of those locations were. That Mr. Chameleon is one to get to know. What a photographers dream character. Only main thing I would fix is the first sentence at the back of the book. You say that your book could not have been made with a truck load of people. You meant to say withOUT a truck load of people.

Mr. W comes back from the dead! ha

It looks pretty good! Some really strong images in there. Only small comment is maybe trim it down a bit more so there aren't too many of the same subject.

A few things I noticed:
- Font: The font you used for the text screams DIY. Or maybe it just looks like that in the Flash rendering.
- Multi photo layouts: In areas where you use multi photo layouts your photo spacing and gaps are inconsistent. For example, in some instances you line photos up so they are even, but if you look closely, the photos are all a few pixels off to the left/right or up/down.
- Single photo layouts with smaller photos: You have a number of pages with a single smaller landscape oriented photo. It just kind of looks dropped in there.
- Full page photos: In some instances, your full page photos aren't... full page. For example, you have a full page photo where one edge of the photo doesn't reach the edge of the page (whereas the other 3 do).
- Number of layouts and styles of layouts. You have such a huge variety of layouts that you have used. Moreover, a lot of similar layouts are styled differently. You may want to cut down on that and create a more consistent feel. Right now I kind of feel like I'm looking at a Word document where someone discovered for the first time they can change fonts ;)

I know some of these things may seem picky, but it's the attention to detail that will make your book more professional looking. You have great material to put in the book, make the book as strong as the photos in it.

+1 great stuff!! Also on the multi page portraits be aware of the crease. It seems fine in digital format but a crease right down the centre of someones face might not be ideal on a tightly bound book that doesn't open flat.

Very nice!!!

I really enjoyed the last few pages, landscapes that pan over the 2 pages.

I think a lot of your photos are quite brilliant.

I have a few comments, but they are probably a matter of personal taste more than anything.

- the firehall / firemen photos are fantastic. however, starting off with the entire project did make me wonder whether the entire book was going to be like that. they are some of your strongest photos, so i understand leading with them, still, personaly opinion is that the "project" should be in the middle so as to display some of your versatility prior to diving into the projects. I think another posted commented on not having too many in a row of the same subject as well, I agree with that, but if you do want to include a project, i think you can get away with it via placement in the overall scheme of things.

- I didn't understand why there needed to be a "portraits 1" & "portraits 2"
- Pg 54-55 - i like the portrait, i just don't think the 2nd page "Space" extension adds enough to warrant inclusion.
- pgs 107-111 - pg 107 photo seems quite pedestrian to me - especially in comparison to some of your other landscapes, of the 6 photos on these pages, the 4 strongest photos are on 110-111, i was really wishing they had been the ones to get full page spreads (could be just my own love of pure landscapes - although technically, one of them IS a portrait of a frog!)

So just minor (hopefully constructive) feedback.

Overall, awesome work :)

I assume your first photobook is a portfolio attempt. Otherwise, it really lacks focus: nice layouts and horrible layouts, excellent and poor photographs.

Also, if creating a portfolio, it's preferred to not put everything in it as you have nothing left to show or say, leave stuff out as follow up.

Large fields of body copy are painful to read in italic font.

Consider two or three separate photobooks based on message (everyday heroes), content (portraits, landscapes), or style (the gritty high-tone style, the stark image style of the woman and the gangster images).

I agree with the text I'm horrible at typography .. and doing layouts aswell they need some work lol .. Im hoping the symmetry full page photos will look ok with the bind .. Thanks again!
