cool images for sure!

Since they use different techniques to "light" some of those images, I always wondered if there was a point where you can't simply use normal visible light anymore for tiny tiny objects. Once you reach a scale small enough, do light waves no longer reflect the same way because the object is too small, or do objects lose their color, etc. because the wave length of the light is too large for the object? Boggles me.
