Details:

What: Lightroom Sessions 01 - Processing and Workflows
When: rescheduled
Time: 6:30pm - 10:00pm
Where: 110 Charles St. East, 3rd floor
Bring: can bring your laptop would be easier, but not a requirement
Cost: $50 w/laptop, $30 no laptop (both include pizza dinner)
Hosts: Taiyeungjai and J__

This session will cover some basics about using Lightroom, and some tips and tricks to hopefully help you along.
You'll be able to answer questions like::
"what is the best way to import photos from my card to my library?"
"how do I process 537 photos into 5 useable ones?"
"Do I need to know what a collection is?"
"How do I make a contact sheet?"

This session will not cover basics of understanding Lightroom functionality. It will assume you've used Lightroom to some degree to process any photos. If you know what the tabs at the top of the screen, then you're good to go for this session.

The costs cover all expenses towards the hosting of this event. It is not a commercial venture.

Myself and J__ will be discussing some of the best practices for quickly being able to process and handle your images and "picks" to get images to your client quickly.

We'll recommend some great tips and tricks and how to use some of less common tabs at the top of lightroom.

Look forward to meeting everyone!

Is it me, or is there no sign up section for this event? Right now there is nothing.

I am curious why the session costs more if you bring your laptop? Wow, thirty people is a big group. Even with two facilitators.

To secure power to plug into and a seat :)

It's going to be in the big room with all the tables. I made it 20 to give everyone the opportunity.

I thought the extra cost might be to rent tables. Thanks for setting this up. Looking forward to it.

I'm seriously considering this, but trying to determine if I am going to pick up anything from having my laptop vs not having it.

Or just bringing it and running off the battery :p

I would suggest bringing it since it's a lot easier to "play in ur on familiar space"

Hopefully, u can pickup something that can supplement ur current workflow or integrate something new :)

It's a personal choice I guess, but I would recommend if you have a lap top bring it along. For me I will pick things up better if I am doing it. Plus if there is anything you want to save in Lightroom in the way of presets or preferences that we are shown you can do it right away.

One thing I would also suggest is the day before make sure to check for any updates to Lightroom so you have the absolute most current version.

Ok, I'm in!
time to clean up the laptop now...
I find myself using the desktop for processing as it can handle more than 1 at a time :p

Excellent. There are other quick optimization tips we'll offer on how to manage your lightroom working files, database and the entire kitchen sink+plumbing that tags along with it.

We'll post up the lightroom version we'll be using at the workshop by the end of next week.

Bump to this. A tutorial hosted by J in 2010 was a big help in getting me going with Lr.

I had a bad feeling about this.

It's too bad it had to be postponed. I was looking forward to it. And it was the perfect night as I didn't have to be in to work early the next day.

Maybe we need a cheaper venue?

Two instructors and a larger class allows one instructor to work with individuals and the other to present and vice versa. There is quite a bit of content to review and we want the experience to be equal between all attendees laptop vs no-laptop.

We'll deliver a top-notch experience in Sept!
