I'm still working on it but how does it sound so far?

Quote:
My work explores the relationship between the tyranny of ageing and multimedia experiences.

With influences as diverse as Kierkegaard and Frida Kahlo, new tensions are created from both simple and complex meanings.

Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated by the theoretical limits of meaning. What starts out as hope soon becomes corroded into a tragedy of lust, leaving only a sense of nihilism and the chance of a new understanding.

As temporal phenomena become frozen through boundaried and diverse practice, the viewer is left with a statement of the inaccuracies of our future.

And to think I wasted my time getting an Arts degree when all I needed was that!

Sounds like someone trying too hard to be arty and failing to say anything of substance.

How about something like this:

My work explores the relationship, synthesis and inevitable dichotomy of traditional photographic standards and modern multimedia experiences.

With diverse influences such as Kierkegaard, Frida Khahlo and ?, I attempt to create new artistic tensions through photography.

Every since I was a child I have been fascinated in the pursuit of the theoretical limits of meaning. What starts out as a hopeful adventure, often becomes tainted with frustration, plagued with nihilism; but eventually circles towards a new chance for understanding.

Sorry, your last sentence was too over the top artsy for me to even attempt a revision. :)

I like it modern and classic at the same time.

Thank for your rewrite but unfortunately it fails to get the points across.

Perhaps expound on the what you are trying to convey, in point form, and try a rewrite from there. :D

"My work explores the relationship between the tyranny of ageing and multimedia experiences."

well, for example, what the hell does this mean? It sounds like some BS someone trying to pose off as artsy would say.

Are you trying to capture decay and aging poorly? and how does that relate to multimedia experiences? Does that mean you film it? or do you explore old people trying to cope with modern technology and their failing bodies? The words dont tell the reader any of substance.

I always found the most successful and competent people are the ones that can explain things well and clearly. How are you supposed to be taken as being able to portray a message through your art if you can't even explain what you are trying to do properly to someone?

Here's my statement:

Quote:
My work explores the relationship between acquired synesthesia and emotional memories.

With influences as diverse as Derrida and Francis Bacon, new synergies are crafted from both traditional and modern meanings.

Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated by the ephemeral nature of meaning. What starts out as triumph soon becomes corroded into a hegemony of temptation, leaving only a sense of decadence and the inevitability of a new beginning.

As shifting forms become frozen through boundaried and critical practice, the viewer is left with an impression of the possibilities of our world.

I think I just did. Another trait of a successful person is that they research enough to not jump to the wrong conclusions. But all meant in good fun for this rainy end of the work week afternoon.

I have one colleague that writes technical documents with such clarity that it always amazes me. It's definitely a talent.

And even the link is sort of a copy. It is like the mission writer that used to be on the Dilbert site (may still be there). You pushed the button and it gave you a meaningless statement that sounded exactly like the typical corporate missions statement!

Dilbert copied it from early mad magazines essay generators.

lol .. use it as you like. The funny thing is that while I was trying to think of the rewrite I was actually thinking about your photographs and what point(s) you were trying to get across.

For real embarrassment did any one see the TV special where Ted Rogers somehow believed he was the next Marshall McLuhan?

Glad to see it wasn't your mission statement. If it had been I was going to suggest you pare it down to
"I like to expose myself to too many different film developing chemicals"

Nah, but I've seen one locally self agrandising version about that Moses Znaimer 'visionary' bloke. He fancies himself to be quite the media visionary. The first show I ever saw of his was Electric Circus dance party broadcast in Brazil when I was in the Pantanal region. Real thought provoking stuff.
