Details:

What: Photographing Stephanie Waterfalls
When: An upcoming Sunday (dependant on overcast weather)
Time: 8am (maybe earlier sunrise start at fifty point beach)
Where: TBD
Bring: Camera, tripod, ND filter, etc. (bug spray, water, etc.)

We are trying to find and photograph Stephanie Waterfalls. I know Tyler knows how to get there - but the rest of us are not really sure. There is a Bruce Trail in the area and I am hoping that trail will actually lead us to the waterfalls (although some readings still say that Stephanie is on private property or you must travel over private property to get too).

The Bruce Trail looks very cool on its own and the rest of the morning will be spent photographing along the trail.

Please regularly as the official date may be set very last minute (a day or two before).

Thanks.

Jordan

I haven't gotten to editing the post yet but I will be including Stephanie in the Spring Waterfalls shoot if anyone is interested.

Ion,

Do you know how to get to Stephanie? (i.e. will that Bruce Trail take us there?)

I'm making a practice run this weekend so I know exactly what I'm doing come event time.

Edit: forgot to add I have been, it's just been about... 7-8 years.

For me, it does depend on which Sunday is chosen, but I am hoping to be able to go.

Hey Sap,

I have a spot in my car still - can you make it up to Yorkdale Mall? Thats where I'm meeting up with Alice. It's looking like this Sunday will be the day we are going - final details to come in the next day or so. I think I will be picking her up around 7am (so we can be in Hamilton for 8).

I've been doing a little more research - now I am not so sure if you can get to Stephanie's from the Bruce Trail - HOWEVER - I have found the correct GPS coordinates and I also remember where Tyler took us in from last time. So we can either go straight to Stephanies first and then the Bruce trail - or attempt to see if the Bruce Trail leads to stephanie and go from there.

Wow, good to know that you remember the entrance Tyler took us thru.
I think we should do Stephanie first early in the morning before the sun
comes out as the falls is in open area; then we can do Bruce Trail after.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source= ... 6&t=h&z=18

A is the entrance, B is the approximate location of the falls. Walk mostly straight through the woods, there is a beaten path - then follow the sound.

Thanks Vince!

I remember the last time we went with Tyler, we parked our cars right on top of the hill of Stephanie Falls and we all walk down the little steep hill for about 3 minutes to get to the falls. Maybe we can drive around the falls this time to look for that hill instead of walking.

Hi Vince

I checked out the link but it doesn't lead to Stephanie falls it just links the entrance to Bruce trail to approx entrance to Stephanie.

Janet - let's meet up at about 8am at the entrance to that Bruce trail at filman. Unless u have another preference - I'm easy

J.

found this online, Vince points us to the right direction

Quote:
Stephanie Falls is located on private property adjacent to the Tamahac Club property at 180 Filman Rd. in Ancaster. The adjoining property owner, a developer, has made it clear that he does not want public access to this waterfall. However the Bruce Trail Conservancy is working with the Tamahac Club to see if a side trail of the Bruce Trail could be constructed by avoiding the developer's property.

That's the end of Filman Road, right?

Yea, I've been there a 100 times over the years, including about 4 or 5 with Tyler.

I don't want to ruin your adventure, but if you're looking to get to stephanie falls, you can:

- Park right on the edge of the road where Highvalley Rd. meets Filman Rd
- Walk to point A on my link
- Walk to point B through the woods. This is not the Bruce trail.

This is the most direct route to Stephanies without interfering with the private Property found if you continue along Filman.

Have your camera's ready with a telephoto as you enter the woods, I see deer there everytime. Walk lightly and keep the noise down, you might end up running into a family of 5-8.

** Brownie points
Stephanies is abused quite a bit. If any of you care about the environment and preserving things in their natural state... I bring a garbage bag with me and clean the place up. People party there in the evening and you get all kinds of alcohol cans. bottles, etc...

Enjoy your trip!
