When booking the farm house, I was speaking to Susan, the owner, and found out they have fresh oysters on property, as well as snow crabs and lobsters. Their oysters are known as "Aspy Bay Oysters". I don't know about you guys but I am going to stuff my face on a load of these babies when I get there, just saying
Here's their website that Maureen sent to me:
http://www.campingcapebreton.com/find-h ... round.html
They have some pictures of what the farm house looks like.

I'm for sure up to having oysters, lobster and snow crabs if they are all available. I love seafood of any kind!

I would definitely like to get in on one of the van rentals as it wouldn't be very practical traveling with the group on a bike. I'd also like to put my name in for the Dingwall cabin/farmhouse night. I'm not picky...

You are included in both.

Just reposting the update from page 2 of the thread so it is easier to find.

So all 6 of us flying out have our cabin booked, and flight booked and the farmhouse for all of us is booked too.

Only thing left is to book the mini van, which will be divided 7 ways (6 of us flying and Matt). Once this is booked I will give everyone a price for budgeting for the cost of the rental.

As far as the gas goes I figure if everyone (all 9 of us) throws in $50.00 into a pot to start. We will fill up both vehicles (mini van and Sarah's parents car) with gas daily and use the pot rather than dividing it everyday and trying to make change. When the pot is starting to run low we will assess and add some each maybe another $20.00 or so this way you are able to move around and be in either vehicle. Most days we will have 8 of as Matt will be in the van likely Tue-Thus and will share in the full cost of rental & gas.

UPDATED LIST OF CONFIRMED PEOPLE

1) Sarah --Sarah's house
2) Marilyn -- Sarah's house -- already there
3) Matt (med) -- motor bike & camping Sarah's house -- driving out/back

4) Maureen -Sharing -- flight booked and cabin booked
5) Chris -sharing -- $89/night cabin with 1 bedroom, 2 beds, sofa bed, kitchen -- flight booked and cabin booked -- Mini Van --Grand Caravan Booked
6)Pam -sharing -- flight booked and cabin booked
7)Marcos -sharing -- flight booked (Air Canada) and cabin booked

8)May - own cabin -- $69/night - single room 1bed, sofa bed , NO kitchen -- flight booked, cabin booked and farmhouse for all of us booked

9)Eric D - sharing -- flight booked and cabin booked
10)John W - sharing $89/night cabin with 1 bedroom, 2 beds, sofa bed, kitchen -- flight booked and cabin booked

Hello Everyone!

Maureen found Zodiac tours online. It's whale tours that and they are very close to where we'll be staying. So my thought is that we could go in the evening and catch a fantastic sunset and maybe a few surprises along the way. Let me know how many are interested and I'll see how soon we can book. If you are interested, I'll add it to the calendar. Thanks all and have a great day!

Or sooner. I just want to meet everyone since I am the newbie of the group and also what the itinerary will be, etc. etc.

July social?

You will never get all 9 of us together at a social -- two person is in not in Toronto, one person is only BPC (3 missing). If we meet at a BPC meeting we have 2 people that are just TPMG and 2 not in Toronto (4 missing). We can still meet if everyone wants and pass on info to those who can't join us too. Chris's idea of the July Social could be a good plan.

Is there something specific May that you were thinking about.

Sarah has an agenda of tentative places she had mapped out for us to visit, which i have a copy of. There are more locations than we are likely to see along the way but can be alternatives for the day if people are interested in that. I could send it out by email to everyone so you can see tentative locations. A final copy would be near the end before we go, but again alternative choices are also possible.

We have had a suggestions for a waterfalls that is 70 high from the Nova Scotia tourist book, from Eric D, I suggested the whale boat tour in the rubber raft boat to see whales and possibly some sunset shots?.

In the past and it is not set in stone, generally we all gather after the days outings have a few drinks and socialize -- likely at the cabin I'm in will be the party cabin or outside if it is nice. Here we discuss what the tentative game plan for the next day is. The weather may affect some plans and we'd go with a plan b attack. Also we see who wants to get up for sunrise the next morning. Some days everyone will have to get up as we would head to sunrise location and then continue on the day -- therefore you would need to pack your lunch the night before and bring along some quick breakfast foods to eat along the way.

If you want to head to bed early any night after the meeting, or go to your own cabin after wards that is fine too. If there is a late night arriving back we can do a quick who wants to get up for sunrise immediately from the van/car for those wanting to call it a night too.

Well with each Social hopefully you can connect with more of us. There will still be a few you won't connect with until the flight, and then the arrival in Cape Breton. So there are 4 socials before we go away.

I think you will fit in just fine.

Thanks Maureen for the vote of confidence!! I'll really try to make it to one of the socials before the trip. If you can send a tentative itinerary that will be fantastic! I am really excited about the trip now that it's only about 4 months away. :P

I did not see this thread till now. I just returned from Cape Breton this week, and I must say that it is BEAUTIFUL, and photographically rich!

You all will have a wonderful time, I'm sure of it!

This is probably too late, but I would love to go if there is space in the car/van.
