Probably not as good a deal, but I picked up an 8-AA pack of Eneloop "Tones" batteries at Canada Computers for $29.95 (after $5 instant rebate, expires Jan 6).

Eneloop Tones batteries get an extra 500 charges for a total of 1500.

Based on price, I would totally get the XX Eneloops. With the ones I have, I don't think I've even done 15 charges yet, and I have had my oldest set for at least 2 yrs. But I also have Durecell 2650mah and Sanyo 2500mah which I use in my flashes initially, before using my Eneloops as backup.

Shoppers Drugmart sale Sunday/Monday only (Jan 9/10) of what I think are Duraloops (Duracell branded Eneloops) - they are described as Pre-charged AA or AAA batteries, (4's) for 7.99 per pack, 9.99 after limit of 4. I think the Duraloops have a white top on them.

If they are the made in Japan version...if they are made in China they have a grey top:

thanks a lot for the heads-up , I've been looking to get these for a while now and always found them too expensive.

Also note that the first pack ( the one with the 16.99 price tag) is back to normal price again , so I got the second :D

Are you saying that ones that have a 16.99 sticker are not on sale?

they show as 2000 Mah, is that sufficient to run a speedlight? I have some that are 2650 Mah, and they are not too bad.

Mah is a measure of how much charge is in the batteries. Even if a battery have more Mah, they tend to deliver the same amount of voltage to the speedlight. I have four speedlights and use Eneloops all the time. They are the most reliable battery, IMHO, as the retain their charge for long periods of time.

I have a number of older 2500 Mah batteries that do not hold a charge as well as Eneloops.

Rechargeable batteries, they all begin to degrade as soon as they're manufactured. Proper care, usage and charging, you can probably get up to three years out of it before the capacity drops off significantly.

I have a Maha C-9000 Charger that I use to Discharge and Break-in and charge my battery sets. I have found Eneloops to be consistently near their rated capacity levels whereas Energizer (Made in Japan) and the Ultra batteries from Tigerdirect only get 80% of rated capacity.

I have one set of Energizer 2500's (Made in China) that were bought at the same time as my other Enerigizers and what do you know, they only get 40-50% of their rated capacity.

By my findings of reconditioning over 100 cells over the past few months, my research shows that not all cells are created equal.

My friend did a group buy for these chargers last year. We got it cheaper than the link somehow.

SDM at Mt. Pleasant & Eglinton still had some at supper time at the $9.99 price, both AA and AAA...if they are out of AA, check the AAA rack as I think there were some mixed in.
