Last I heard, he dropped the G1 for a Pentax K-x, and has most recently dropped the K-x for a Sony A33.

He's a hard guy to keep track of

Now you're saying the same things, I'm going to wait and celebrate the 4th Anniversary with my XTi then :P Thanks for your input, Ken.

Well, next time we have a FourThirds/Micro social you're welcome to join us, even if you haven't bought your camera yet.

Personally I'm waiting for the Panasonic 3D lens, and the way it looks I'll have to get a GH2 in order to use it as the older cameras don't have the processing power for 3D.

But (especially if it's too much $$$$) I may opt for the Fuji 3D P&S instead.

Great, Thanks!! When is your next social??

And the 3D lens, I want one too. I'm going to wait for the new camera and 3D lens then. I hope I haven't spent my money by then :?

That's what we started to talk about a few weeks ago since we're overdue for one, but some of us are waiting for the new hardware to be announced so we have something new to talk about, or even show.

Unfortunately the lens has only just been announced, and is being shown at Photokina...I'm hoping it will be on display at the Henry's show (I wasn't going to go, but this would be a reason to go); Henry's already list the lens at $300 and you can pre-order it, but I'm waiting for more details like do you need to specifically get the GH2 body ($1000 body only), or can you use any Micro FourThirds body.

Also, is viewing limited to their software, or can it produce two separate images (rather than a combined image) so you can use it with any lenticular or anaglyph process.

In addition, what is the 3D effect from the Panasonic lens since the optics are so close together; for proper depth, the optics should be the same distance apart as the human eyes.

Another option I'm looking at is the Fuji W3 P&S 3D camera...No "S" mode, and it uses smaller sensors, but the optics are the proper distance apart (unlike the Panasonic lens), and I can carry it the same time I can carry my regular dSLR. Also it's MPO image format can be separated into two individual JPG images with third party software. It also has a neat feature in that you can take a wide angle and telephoto picture of the subject at the same time!

What will make it or break it for me is the details about the Panasonic 3D lens.

Dropped the E-30 for the K-x, kept the G1 for quite awhile alongside before it got sold. Dropped both for the A33

Just wonder does anyone shoot Panasonic micro four-thirds here? Are the lenses sharp? I'm curious because it's time for me to get a new camera now and if the camera is compact and light and the lenses are nice and sharp, that'll be perfect. :P

The Panasonic lenses are quite sharp, especially the 20/1.7 and the 7-14/4.

Agreed. More so the 7-14.

Having seen both cameras in action, and the 3D images on 3D TV's, I've decided on the Fuji...not only for the reasons I gave above, but the Fuji also has a lenticular LCD on it so you can see the 3D on the camera without the need for glasses, and as well the W3 is significantly cheaper than the Panasonic lens & GH2 body.

Ok, so the 20/1.7 and the 7-14/4 are quite sharp especially the 7-14. I'm thinking now. I'm more into photography than video so I guess I'll have to stick with Panasonic.

Time to start thinking about another meet. Anyone have an idea for a date? Anyone want to buy a E-3? I'm feeling weak

Well shooting for November might be a good idea, to give people plenty of time to plan on being there.

Which leaves Nov. 7, 13/14, and 27/28 for a weekend meet, if the two of you are going to be able to make it. The 7th might be a bit close.

Nov 7 is not good for me but the weekend of 13/14 and 27/28 are both good.

I guess the ideal date depends on the ETA for Rob's E-5.

No E-5, at the moment, unless someone decides to buy my E-3 that I listed in the for sale section. I can justify 3 bodies, the way that I shoot, but not 4.

How about making it a Four-Thirds/Micro Four-Thirds/Christmas meet in December and I'll bring along some Christmas treats? :D

Hey the 13/14th is gamercamp so not the best weekend for me unless it's in the evening maybe. Other than that I'm good

Would one of the first two weekends in December be good for everyone then? So far Mike can't make anything but 27/28, which seems good for everyone so far though.

Greatlaker, the ETA on my E-5 depends on when someone actually wants to but my E-3 ;)

I may be out of town the first weekend in December. But the weekend prior and after look okay, especially if it is on a Sunday.

How about making it on the second Sunday before it's bad for anyone?

Btw, I always got the GF1 with the 20mm f1.7 on Friday but when I asked if I could look at the macro lens, he told me they are out of stock  :? I think I better wait

Was watching Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel, when during the commercials at 1:30am (while I was surfing on the computer) I heard the words "Olympus PEN", and looking at the TV I saw the following commercial, on CANADIAN TV:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1BgR2xlbdM

OK, the end of it didn't have Best Buy or Ritz listed as stores you could get it at, but it's nice seeing an Olympus commercial (that I saw on YouTube a long time ago) on local TV.

So shall we throw out Sunday, December 12th as the date and see who can make it? Around noon.
