Details:

What: Thanksgiving Sunrise at Humber Bay
When: Mon. Oct. 11, 2010
Time: 6AM
Where: End of Humber Bay Park Road West
Bring: Camera, tripod, filters and probably gloves.

Since there will be very little traffic this holiday Monday and it is not yet too cold this is probably a good time to do this. Twilight is to start at 06:25 and the the sun rise at 07:27 according to this. Weather right now says seasonably warm and maybe possibly clouds.

For information about what this event may be like look at the last one.

Anyone know a good CHEAP breakfast place to follow this up that isn't named after a particular former hockey player?

Breakfast. "Easy" on Queen West. They open at 9:00.

http://www.toronto.com/restaurants/article/369527 The article is from 2006 so I'm sure prices have increased a bit. But this is one of my favorite places that end of town. Won't work if we get 20 people, though, it's cozy.

Named after "Easy Rider" that okay?

One of the nice things about the Burlington/Hamilton area is that there are piles and piles of great breakfast options.

This event is completely weather dependent; I'm not heading out there at insane o' clock in the morning to watch Toronto move from dark to a dull grey. That said, the forecast still looks decent.

Looks like this may be a bad idea:

Image

The sun will not be rising behind the city this time of year from that location... I guess we can still get twilight shots... Thoughts? From looking at the ephemeris I can't think of where we could position ourselves so that the sun would be behind the city.

Note: I dunno why the bottom of the jpeg isn't rendering and couldn't be bothered to figure it out. Appears in full locally.

This really isn't the right time of year for this. The sun will rise over the water. Could be pretty but no cityscapes.

This location is where I think the Humber Bay Bridge is.

Oh there's more, I just named my favorite. Plenty of options if you drive up Roncesvalles. Not sure what we'll find open early on a holiday Monday. Easy is open tomorrow, I called.

I'm interested, I just need a ride that early in the am. Not crazy about wandering about in the dark.

Sorry Pam and whoever else was gonna do this but I'm out. Between the sun coming up at the wrong location, silly earth tilting on it's axis!, the now much greater possibility of heavy clouds according to the weather peeps and me still being beat from yesterday and Friday I'm out.
