Someone has asked me if I can create a slide show for a wedding. I dread this kind of stuff lol. Does anyone know anybody who would be able to provide this service so I can quote the couple a price?

Or, does anyone know of any easy slide show software? I guess it can't be that hard lol. A cheesy song and some pictures.

TONS of them out there. Lots of photo viewers also do that. I thin Microsoft Photo Story is free and pretty simple.

Check out your CD burning software...it may have come with a basic program to do this.

Irfanview can do a basic slideshow with music, but you're limited to choosing one song (I believe) and all the images show on the screen for the same amount of time.

Many people seem to like ProShow Gold, but it's not free, and it has timing issues on slower machines (especially if there's fancy/sliding transitions).

Lightroom has a built in slideshow builder. I know Lightroom 2 had bugs in it with skipping the odd slide but I think 3 has fixed that problem. I haven't used this feature on 3 as yet so can't say for certain. I use Proshow as well and it does a great job.

You can download a trial version of Proshow and see if it is what you're after.

Thanks for the replies! What does one usually charge for these types of services? If you don't mind my asking.

Depending on the type of slideshow I use either Slideshow Pro and/or Adobe Premiere. I charge an additional $250.

I upload it to my webpage, password protected and give the pass to the client so she/he can share among family, etc for 3 months.

she/he get's a dvd copy of it.

I use Proshow Producer -- best slideshow software I've ever used, and I am barely harnessing the power of it.

That is only true if you are running a PC executable show --- if you are outputting it to a DVD as a video slideshow -- there are no issues with speed - as it renders as a video file. And yes - you can output Proshow to widescreen for an HD screen -- however I don't believe it supports true HD yet... as you would need a blueray burner.

Are you talking about providing a same-day slideshow at the wedding reception, or just after the fact when they come over to see proofs or pick up prints or what have you?

ProShow Gold and ProShow Producer are top-notch apps, but probably overkill if all you need is a cross-fade between images with music playing in the background. Most free image viewers (e.g., XnView, FastStone) have the capability of creating simple slideshows, so you don't have to spend too much time and effort on this.

I'm not sure. Someone just asked me if I could "provide a slideshow". I presumed it was one of those ones where you pool all of the old photos together for a "memories" type show which seems annoying to do.

I'll play around with proshow and figure it out. If anyone is interested in making any money on the side providing any of these types of slideshows let me know.
