Do the NiZn batteries hold more at say 2700Mah? Or is it a faster recycle time?

The current generation of PowerGenix NiZN AAs are rated for 2500 mWh, but that's calculated at 1.6 v. Thus, their capacity is almost 1600 mAh (2500

And if you did not read the previous post ;), what I'm saying is that capacity is not the end-all-be-all rating. I might have a set of AAs that will last for 12 hours at a wedding, but it goes from a 3-second recycle time in the morning to a painful 10-second recycle for the last few hours of the evening. Or I have a different set of AAs that might only last 8 hours, yet I consistently get 1.5- to 3-second recycle times the entire 8 hours. I would rather have the second type of AAs because recycling time is more important to me than endurance.

I don't really see why the ability for them to hold a charge for months at a time is important when we're putting them into a speedlight that will discharge them in a matter of hours.

I like 'em because they remove a task that has to be completed just before heading to a wedding. I prefer to recharge the batteries at my leisure, so if I forget to do it one day, I still have plenty of time later. I'd hate to wake up the morning of a wedding, only to discover that for whatever reason I did recharge the batteries the night before.

Same reason why I check and reformat all my CF cards right after a wedding instead of right before one. Or checking for sensor dust, or charging up the camera batteries, or making sure there's enough room on the Epson P-4500, etc. The less I have to worry about the day of the wedding, the less stressed I'll be. I'll still do a double-check just before heading out (e.g., check the voltage levels on the AAs), but that doesn't take much time. And if I do find a problem, I'm confident that the Eneloops that I had recharged a month ago are ready to jump in to save the day.

I lose a bit of endurance with the Eneloops, but not nearly as much as the 2700 mAh vs 2000 mAh numbers might have you believe. Eneloops also recycle faster than traditional NiMH cells. Actually, I use a mix of PowerGenix and Eneloops, since the NiZn cells have similar low self-discharge characteristics.
