I'm on TPMG way too much

Anyone living east of the city wanting to join a photo club, town of Ajax will be starting one up.

I was part of the initial organizing committee, but dropped out of the executive - as I didn't like the direction that the club was going in. I am still thinking of joining, but the club needs to have 80% of its membership be residents of Ajax - and Ajax ONLY. Plus the town of Ajax forced the club to incorporate. Both of those points I completely disagreed with.

I can see your point about the 80% Ajax resident requirement, but why do you disagree with the club being an incorporated one?

Because it was forced by the town, and they basically said that they wouldn't provide discounted meeting space unless the club incorporated. There are very few camera clubs that have incorporation in the GTA. Plus it was a representative from the recreation department that initiated the club in the first place -- this seemed odd to me.

But the real reason why I am not really getting all that involved in the club, is that I just have too many things I am involved in. I am already in the vice-president role at the Beach Photo Club, and may be taking over at the end of the year, so I am going to be far too busy.

Many clubs in the Greater Toronto Area are members of the Greater Toronto Council of Camera Clubs, and you can a list at the following link:
http://gtccc.ca/memberclubs.html

You might find a club there that's near you.
