I kind of like the effects associated with Kinetic photography but I'm not willing to try with an EOS-1 body and L lens. I was wondering if anyone here was brave enough try

I've done similar types of experimental photography -- but never camera tossing. I'd be willing to try it out with my D90 and 35mm f/1.8 and a crash matt or pile of foam to catch it.

it all looks fairly repetitive. Same images over and over with different colours.

wow.. that's crazy! I have seen people do arial shots before using kites and r/c helicopters, but that's just nuts.

Most I've done is waving lights in front of the camera:

and moving the camera while the shutter is open:

I've done some camera tossing, both with my old Rebel and a point and shoot...

I used this image to explain both long shutter speeds and light trails to a friend. Pointed roughly at a lamp post and then a circular motion applied.

Throwing an SLR greatly increases eye hand coordination.

Or credit card debt.
