Myself I took a total of 1167 images about 28 gigs of raw/jpeg images
Expenses Ranged around $300.00 - $350.00 depending upon which vehicle and your room accomodations for the 4 days 3 nights weekend and any extra you may have purchased along the way. (3 nights accomodation, ferry, 1 lunch, 4 dinners, snacks, plus any foods you brought for lunches/breakfast/snacks, etc.)
We had a total of 13 people on the trip with 3 vehicles (2 cars & 1 van) all together.
Travelling up and back we had 10 people and 2 vehicles following each other.
Weather: Raining -- torrential down pour upon packing and departure. Rest of weekend was hot/warm and sunny everyday. Sunrise and Sunset the clouds were mostly in our favor.
A great and successful trip. One I enjoyed very much! Great company and lots of fun.
About 10 keepers on this trip for me after 470 shots mostly brackets. Not bad since my target was 10-15 for the year. I'm really happy with the turn out.

www.startrails.de -> software for doing startrails via multiple ~30 second exposures, instead of one big long one. This may come in handy for Torrance Barrens later this month.
http://www.geosetter.de/en -> Geosetter, for tagging location information into your photos. For those that want a copy my gps datalog files, email or pm me, and I will email you the files.
I'm actually reading on how to do startrails on my camera. Trying to find out the pro and con of multiple 30 second exposures vs the long exposures (i.e. 15 mins, 30 mins... 60 mins...).
The links you posted maybe of good use for me . Thanks for sharing!

I was recently reading up on this in prep for Torrance Barrens.
Because of heat digital sensors are susceptible to more noise the longer the exposure is regardless of ISO. In other words, it's possible to get a less noisy picture with a higher ISO than a longer exposure at a lower ISO. So by matching up the 30 second exposures you aren't heating up the sensor with 30 minute, 3 hours or whatever length exposures. You do have to weigh this against the amount of noise your camera produces at higher ISOs of course. My source on this is Scott Bourne.
Nice shots Chris. Still working on mine. I got wicked poison ivy and haven't done much over the past few days but elevate my feet & plaster my leg with bandages. Sigh.
I think I've got around 600 shots. Lots of bracketing and experiments. Lots of deletions.

Thank you for posting all the details. This has inspired me to perhaps do a very similar trip with my wife. Hope you won't mind if I use this thread as a guideline for an itinerary!

Go ahead and use the details as a guideline for you future trip. If you come across anything interesting post it to let us know for possible future trips with different places to see.
