Okay since I work at a retail store I hear the dumbest things alive that are from naive customers.... I want to dedicate this thread to all the dumb quotes you've heard in photography from .... Customers.. Wannabe photographers .. Models .... friends etc etc .. I know theres tons of stuff!!

Co worker : "Hey I downloaded that raw converter you told me about the other day" ...
Me "what one?
Co worker ".... That editer ... "lighthouse, its tough to get the hang of but its so cool to edit with ..

Me "I'm sorry what?"

Coworker : I downloaded Lighthouse last night

Heres a facebook message from a friend gotta love these

"hey tyler hows it going? i gotta send u a msg here cuz ur wall thing is missing lol, anyways i just had a curious question, what camera do you use for all your sick photos? I was thinking about getting a good camera capable of taking amazing photos like yours and i thought you would know what would be good."

Co worker 'Yeah your photos are cool" if I had a 3000 dollar camera mine would be too"

Customer : "Everytime I transfer my files from my computer to my ubs it never seems to work .. I just don't get it.

I have tons .. Ill add more when I remember them ... Lets hear your funny stories!

When I used to work in a computer store many moons ago. I had one customer who asked me to download the internet onto a couple of floppies.

I think that everyone here must have heard, "Those are great pictures. You must have a really good camera." at least once in their lives.

The recent one, not as funny:
"we try to keep it as close to film as we can"

about shooting jpegs and no processing whatsoever

apparently noone develops film

Lots of film ones:

    B&W film "I like your B&W conversion"
Cross Processed Film "Do you have an action in photoshop to get your cross processing effect?"
How do you do that double exposure effect?

It's not as so I don't tag my film work.

If you're going to start posting computer funnies too then I have 25 years worth of material, starting with, "My coffee cup holder isn't working."

When I used to shoot more events, I used to always get the idiots coming up to me comparing 'megapixels', and one time this annoying lady came to me and said, how many megapixels does your camera have -- at the time I had a D2h, and I replied, 4... she gasped and said, mine has 10 and is way better than yours, maybe I should do your job instead! I of course replied with the standard "its not all about the megapixels, its all about how you use it!"

new trend for this;
my new coffee holder doesnt hold the coffee cup, keep sliding down (for Magic Trackpad)

once customer called me complaining that I hooked up the DVD drive upside down, and he called 3 times and accused me, suing me and my company for making his life difficult.
he brought the PC back and we showed him how to put the PC Tower upside/down. lol

At a wedding, a guest comes up to me points at my 70-200 and asks, "How many miles can I see with that telescope?"

At the recent Canadian Open another spectator standing next to me says, "Hey, your camera sounds like a machine gun, you must be getting a lot of great pics."

When we bought a D60 for the office here... my boss holds it up, and says "why can't I see the image on the LCD screen, it is a digital camera isn't it?"

Amidst a video shoot...

"Yeah, I've got a wide angle zoom through lens adapter on the camera so I don't need to focus."

I was just treated to one of the dumbest comments that we hear on a regular basis. A friend had suggested that people who are having an all-day event nest weekend contact me about being their official photographer for it. It's up to 14 hours long and more than an hour away.

"We'll give you photo credit for anything that we use on our website."

Yesterday at the end of Caribana, a man with a Rebel SLR and a video camera came up to me and asked about my larger white lens. He asked me, "what lens is that" and I answered a 100-400. He then asked if that is an L series. Rather than say something I might regret, I let lim read the descriptor on the lens.

Another person at Caribana told me my lens has lots of power. I should move back so other people can get closer and he pointed to the bleachers. I bit my tongue and kept shooting.

It's an oldie but a goodie. Actually I was searching through the archives last night for an old thread from 2007, and one of the replies I wrote in that thread had that saying where I was talking about you don't need the best equipment. It was "Posted by mikefellh on Fri Aug 10, 2007 11:49 am" in:
http://tpmg.ca/forum/archives/12%20-%20Aftermath.../200706121153-000004043%20-%20August%207th%20%28Tues,%206:30PM%29%20-%20Experimental%20Photography.xml
