I think it is not fair to make a statement of CA based on a moving subject; it could be that the AF system could not keep up with the subject, and therefore mis-focussed. This would lead to some fringing if the subject is not in critical focus.

Maybe shoot something static, and then a more fair test can be made?

oh i looked at the images again. At least for the skateboarder, it does not look like CA, but more like the shutter speed was slow enough that a ghost image was made due to ambient light, and then the sharp image was created with the flash.

Im talking more about the purple along his shoulders an pants and why would it be around the lamp post if that were the case ?

It looks like there's some sort of layer that is applied to the sky and/or the guy and it's causing this edging around the skate boarder.

Upload one that isn't post processed at all. Straight RAW to JPG, absolutely NO adjustments if you can.

no, the shoulders and pants do not look like CA to me. It's the long exposure + flash thing happening.

It's happening to the lamp post because it is not in focus. And looking at the post, it also does not look like CA, there is no purple/green fringe at the edges.

Shoot something static, with a well-defined boundary, something well lit, against a dark background (or vice versa), and then examine that picture.

Blurring whatever you want to call it around the skateboard and hands is motion blur. You'll need to use something faster than 1/250s to completely freeze the action. Other than that, rest of the image looks fine to me.

You need a 24-70mm f/2.8L VR IS VC AC DC XXX USM, anything less just won't cut it.

I'll buy CA inducing, light leaking 24-70 for a reasonable price of $900 since you are having so many problems with it.

looks fine to me. What shutter speed were you using?

I still think a bit of that could be attributed to the motion of the guy. It's much more pronounced because of the blurring. If you want to nit-pick there's CA everywhere in the photo, it's just not that noticeable compared to the guy in motion. Around the chest area, you'll see a bit of the opposite, a bit of CA in red. Look at the cracks in the cement, it's there too.

His shutter speed was only 1/250th. Really need 1/400th at least IMO if you want to freeze the action.

but wouldn't you also need to know where the focus point was, and the DOF?CA is exaggerated in OOF areas, so if the chest/cement cracks are OOF, it's not fair to conclude the lens is full of CA.

In any case, I thought true CA was easily corrected in PS?

that's definitely not CA around his body, some artifact of motion blur and flash or something, but not CA

Looking at the first shot it appears to be CA for sure. Barely noticeable in the center but very noticeable nearing the edges. When I looked at the tree in the top right, it was like yep

its the lamp post that gets me. Static object shot in daylight at 1/250. No colors there but it definitely doesn't look right with the ghosting.

Hopefully it's just PP

It's definitely not CA. It has to do with the sync speed. 1/250 isn't fast enough for what you're trying to do. I'd like to see a static scene at 24mm f/8 with some sharp edges elements or foliage and higher contrast.
