ARGH! I am very familiar with his work. It touches me like few other photographer's work does. One minute his work makes me feel impotent, insignificant, useless and makes me question my continued pursuit of wildlife photography - and another minute it inspires and pushes me to better my craft.

Interesting comments - hopefully the latter occurs more often than the former. If not, turn away!!

FYI, Nick Brandt is releasing a "best of" book On This Earth, A Shadow Falls Artist's Edition which combines the best images from both books into one book.

Thanks for the tip Carlton!

I'm making this book - which combines the best photos from the first two books in the planned trilogy - because the reproductions of much of A Shadow Falls and On This Earth can and should be a lot better than they are.
Supervised by me, the printing of the photos in this Artist's edition will for the first time closely match the rich velvety tonality of the original prints, and, especially in the case of On This Earth, in a larger size than seen before.

What strikes me most is the incredible composition. The scenes are what I'd expect a painter would compose if s/he was painting a scene. Painters have the liberty of arranging the composition to taste - wildlife photographers take what they're given and make the best of it.

Saw it was back in stock at the book stores downtown.

Bought A Shadow Falls. Stunning prints. Makes me embarrassed to even own a camera! This guy is good!

Awesome! It's back on sale at Amazon.ca. I bought the other book the last time but Shadow Falls was sold out. The best of book is supposed to be released later this year.
