Hey all,

Hope you're all doing well! It's been ages since I've posted anything!!

I know a lot of people here have considered renting lenses or already do rent lenses from Henry's/Vistek, etc., so I thought I'd recommend a fairly new rental company.

A few weeks ago I rented a lens from Lens Rental Canada (http://www.lensrentalscanada.com/), and they were really great to deal with. The rental was VERY reasonably priced compared to Henry's/Vistek, etc. (and no deposit), and I got the lens the day after I requested it.

I am in no way affiliated with this company, I just thought they provided a good service and a great price, so I'm recommending you guys check them out next time you need to rent a lens!

Cheers,
Carrie

they are located in Owen Sound, does that mean they ship the lens to you? How does it work?

Seems more expensive than Vistek + shipping charge of 25?

it does look cheaper, but you have to rent for multiple days it seems (given the shipping. etc.) and as mentioned by Potatoe, there is a shipping charge. Looks like a decent option for longer term rentals.

As usual they only do Nikon and Canon...but their top news article is about Olympus!!??!

Obviously they get their news from a service, but it's one of those things that had to be pointed out.

It's just an rss feed from dpreview: http://www.dpreview.com/feeds/news.xml

Fire them a mail and ask what their plans are, let us know here when you find out! All businesses start somewhere.

I have been to Owen Sound many times and I think I have been to a camera store on 2nd street that carries some resonably high end stuff for a small town (population 22K) - it could be affiliated somehow. The camera store had been around for many yeatrs and I just tried to Google it but could not find the name.

Maureen, we will have to take a slight detour on the way up to Tobermory this weekend.

I will try and get you the name of the shop - I have sent an email to some locals to ask the name of the shop I was in. News at 11....

Confirmed. The shop I visited is the same address as the Lens Rental outfit. They had high end Gitzo's, Canon large glass and some 1D series on display. Sorry Nikon and other shooters, I get tunnel vision around all that Canon porn so I can't confirm what else they had.

Here is the link to their site: http://www.fotoart.ca/

If there is a shipping fee, that must be new, as my rental came with return shipping included (via Canada Post). I rented for 2 weeks and it was a much less expensive option than the T.O. stores. Plus, there is no deposit.

Interesting, I came across the folks recently, no experience in renting from them but they give little critiques on most of the lenses they offer, which is interesting.

I passed along this post to the owner of the rental company, since many of you seem to have questions. Might be best for them to answer directly.

Hi Craig,

thanks for stopping by and welcome to TPMG. Any special TPMG discounts to perhaps chum the waters a bit? There are upwards of 4000 members here.

Thanks!

Sorry, intention wasn't to break the rules (that I helped make...ha!). I probably should've posted this in the resource section instead, as I was merely trying to give people a heads up that there are other rental options available to them. :)

Hey again

Sorry, I was unaware of the rules that are probably posted and I neglected to read. :)

Thanks
Craig

Not a problem, it just appeared to be going into the direction of a commercial posting. It's not a problem for members to recommend companies that will benefit others, but there is a gray area between, and it was starting to cross the line.
