I will be shooting some portraits in High Park in the coming weeks and was looking for tips from some of you who have done this before.

I have light stands, umbrellas, soft-boxes, that sort of thing that can sometimes garner attention. We did a workshop there last fall and were not hassled but I wanted your experiences.

- Will we get hassled if it is non-commercial?
- Can you suggest good portrait locations in the park for three adults (A mother and two adult daughters)
- Any other pointers would be greatly appreciated

I don't know the answer to any of your questions but I can suggest this:
Find a less populated park or a ravine closer to your home or your clients home.

There are lots of ravines and small parks in Toronto and you are less likely to be hassled in a smaller park than in a high profile one as High Park.

No problems shooting there. If you have a lot of gear, make sure you have enough help to move from place to place quickly.

It just sounded like you have a lot of gear. And so you're not taking up a huge area in the park for a long time. Just in case someone complains or something...

Thanks for the clarification.

I do have a fair bit of lighting gear but I may not need that much depending on the ambient conditions that day. I could get mobile pretty quick if need be as it is all portable gear.

Does anyone have any portraits you are willing to share that were taken at HP? You can PM me if you don't want to post the link.

Thanks for the suggestion. The location came from them as they live near High Park and I am asking questions becasue I am not all that familar with shooting there.

I suppose the worst thing that could happen would we would get punted from the park.

I spoke to a buddy today and he has shot there before with little issue but he typically just has his camera - no lighting.
