I have the capability to record full HD on my SLR but I wouldn't call myself a HDSLR shooter. This cameras video capabilitys greatly exceed the users skill set to the point where its barely even an option for killing time.

My 5D does HD video but I never use the function. I might play around with it next week on vacation.

Getting into it...... Of course, I also have a Canon HV30 which does an excellent job. I would love to get a rig for the d300s with my 24-70, but can't justify $2500 for one, when I already have a 1080p capable video camera that does a pretty awesome job, given the right technique.

Rigs don't have to cost $2500....

The Zacutos and RedRocks are nice....but there's so many cheaper alternatives...

I'm on a Cavision which is far cheaper but also so much better for my style of work. and lighter! Also made in Canada!

Nobody else?

how much was your Cavision rig? They are still pretty pricey from what I have seen -- my retailer (The Sourceshop) is a Cavision dealer.

I'd be interested in finding out more.....

I was advised to stay away from ProAim by the way --- parts made in India, apparently the rigs start to fall apart after about a year.

Think I paid $280 for it from Vistek.

Its $199 from B&H.

Its just shoulder rig, no riser or follow focus or finder.

aha.... that explains everything -- the rigs I am looking at are complete with follow focus, rails, matte box and top french flap, etc, etc....
