Sony FAIL! (Not a knock on Sony users by any means)

Sony has no say in it though. They just hire a marketing company to do those adds. All they have to do is like how it looks or not!

Doubt it. They used Canon for the ad shots of the Sony a900 as well.

True, but you would think they would have asked the ad company to use a photographer that uses Sony cameras. I don't think it would go over well if Canon did an ad and the photographer used a Nikon and vice versa. Its all about optics these days.

Actually I recall the same thing happening to somebody else, not sure if it was Canon or Phase One. At any rate, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Agencies uses their own equipment to deliver the final product that the client wants.

Now of course, I know of a wedding photg that has both Nikon and Canon systems because their clients wants them to be shooting with a specific brand  it's not about the equipment but the final product!

Very few companies will actually care. If the creative was done in house then brand might have been an issue but third party art departments are free to shoot whatever.

I'm still surprised to see agencies using SLR's for ads. At one time that was unheard of.

Olympus cares...they even made the point in one of their recent TV ads to show that it was all filmed using one of their PEN cameras...bah, who needs an expensive "full frame" camera to shoot HD?

Well they're trying to advertise the camera and showing what the camera can do in a commercial. No different than Nikon and Canon when they use their own camera showing off the HD capabilities. Different purposes, different goal. Not really a big deal IMO.
