Details:

What: Royal Botanical Gardens Rose Fest
When: June 22nd or 23rd (Tuesday or Wednesday @ 12PM)
Time: 12PM
Where: the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington
Bring: Camera, macro lens, tripod, flash $ for admission (see below)

The roses were in full bloom last week so they should still be good but we should probably get there sooner rather than later, next weekend for example. Rain is currently forecast for both days but meteorologists are charlatans at best so who knows. GO Trains operate hourly, more often during rush hour, back and forth from Union Station to Aldershot station. People can be picked up if need be, just let me know. And if you don't have a macro don't count yourself out, there's other stuff going on there and it's a beautiful place with many photo ops for all kinds of gear. For example they've currently got some funky/morbid scarecrow art installation going on that looks worth shooting.

Admission is $12.50 but Alice has kindly found some coupons for 25% off. Or, you can buy your tickets online and get a "free" map worth $2!

If we cannot make it this week, I hope so that we can move the event to next Tuesday & Wednesday as I'm off on those 2 days again :(. But will we still get nice roses by then?

I don't mind moving the event forward a week, or to any day for that matter. For me the place is down the street and relatively cheap as far as TPMG outings go. As for the roses, according to the girl at the RBG front desk last Tuesday, they were in full bloom last week. According to the RBG Web site the Rose Celebration, which is a guided type tour, runs Saturdays and Sundays, June 19, 20, 26 and 27, July 3, 4; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. So, I'm assuming their will still be some roses kicking around next week. And if they end up being in rough shape by then the trip wouldn't necessarily be a complete loss, like I said before, there is a lot to shoot there.

Thanks for the coupon link!

I won't be able to make this outing with you guys, but one of my friends in Burlington has also mentioned taking me here, and now I can save us some cash :D

Ok, from the looks of things we should "officially" postpone this until next week but we'll stick to Tuesday/Wednesday. It was kinda short notice and the weather forecast is getting worserer, now that I've said that maybe it won't rain at all. That said, if anyone still feels like coming out this week and wandering around in the rain I am game. We can scope the joint out and have a more solid plan for next week instead of the willy-nilly seat of the pants planning I'm more known for.
