Details:

What: Leslie St. Spit Bike-N-Shoot
When: Sat. Jun 12, 2010
Time: 2 PM
Where: foot of the spit park entrance, Leslie St (Tommy Thompson Park)
Bring: any kind of camera, bike, snacks, water, sunblock, sunglasses, hat, sense of adventure

If you are throwing your bike in/on the car, there is parking at the foot of the spit. It's not marked as such but there were no problems last year.

For the event - planning on biking along the spit to the end, stopping at interesting spots for photos.

Last year there were a few that walked part way. If you want to walk, click on the middle button thingy and maybe a walking group + biking group can happen. It's a long walk so don't count on reaching the end.

This event will be weather-dependent - will decide friday night.
If it ends up being very sunny, make sure you are prepared with sunblock and water.

Be nice to the wildlife - plants and animals. Don't tromp on ground you are not supposed to tromp on.

I'd love to go out and check out the spit again, but alas I'll be heading to Haliburton that weekend. Plus, my bike is not in usable shape right now.

I probably have a downtown commitment in the afternoon, but might be able to walk partway up the spit and meet you coming back. I won't be able to confirm ahead of time, though, since I won't know what time I'll finish until I finish my other commitment.

I'd like to come but I don't have a bike. So, if there's a walkin' group, I'm in.

On the weekend they have a shuttle bus that takes you half way up the spit and back again, It cuts out much of the boring part.

I've had a change of plans, so won't be able to meet you partway after all.

How fast do the bikers plan on pedaling?

I'm wondering if I'll be able to keep up on one wheel or not... maybe I'll bring the one and join the walking crew...

Won't be biking too fast, more like a leisurely pace, but there are some rough patches which could be difficult on a single-wheeler.

Hrm. Might actually be worse on my bike. It's a track bike really not meant for anything other than the velodrome. I'll try & figure it out!

With an 80% chance of rain, lightening bursts, and locusts... we will have to do this another time.
