Details:

What: Evening shoot in the Distillery District
When: Sun. May 16, 2010
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Where: The old clock
Bring: Tripod.

Aka "Dan needs to test out his new Pentax K7, but the more the merrier." ;)

Anyway, the Distillery is an old favourite; and it's extra-pretty at night when the lights come on. I'm thinking of an hour or 90 minutes -ish of shooting, and then (assuming that the restaurant is open) we can get some grub and have a drink, etc.

If you're new to TO, or for some reason have never been to the "Dist. Dist.", you should really come and check it out!

(Although there are a number of CONTACT exhibits at the galleries there, I seem to recall that many of them are likely to be closed on Sundays, which is why I'm not attempting to combine this with a gallery-hopping event.)

See you at the distillery!

If you're coming by TTC, best bet is to use the King streetcar; get off @ Parliament (or one stop east of there) and walk south a couple of blocks.

Dan, if you get a large turnout, you may need to get a permit. I had to get one for our last event. they will waive the fee for TPMG but they now insist on them.

and yes, you actually need to sign a 3 page contract

Really? Boy does that suck. Who do I contact to get the permit?

Dan, just PMed the information to you. contract covers basic liability stuff.
1- you can't sue in case of injury
2- you have to pay for any damage caused by the participants
3- can't shoot inside stores
4- can't block passageways
5- no heavy equipment

no issue with tripod

Eddie

It will be our way of silent protest to the DD owners and their rules and permits regarding photography!

Hello,

What if my tripod is sitting in a box in London (UK)? What then!? Do I come anyway and hang my head in shame? Or not come at all?

Perhaps one of our members has a spare tripod they might be able to lend you? Never hurts to ask... ;)

Hey guys, I would like to come as well but since I do not have a tripod, I would really appreciate it if someone could loan me theirs :D Anyway, if all goes well, I am hoping to drop by the distillery district after the concrete canoe races at Marilyn Bell Park.

Earlier this week I submitted the paperwork to the lady in the management office... She said she would e-mail me the signed contract (giving us permission to shoot) in time for the event... Well, anyway, I will call her today (Friday) if for some reason it hasn't appeared in my inbox.

Will keep you all posted...

Apparently I should actually *look* at my Inbox. ;)

The contract came through; I will have a copy of it with me on Sunday evening, and I will check in with site security on arrival.

Here is Tanya's condensed "sermon from the mount":

> Please ensure you are not entering any spaces or blocking any doorways into tenant spaces while onsite for your shoot. Security has been instructed to cease any filming or photo shoots with individuals or parties that are not abiding by these terms.

----

I hope everybody's good with that. Basically, don't shoot indoors, and don't get in people's way. And don't give the guards a hard time. (Hopefully they'll be nice to us, too.)

Anyway, I'm sure it'll all be fine. See you on Sunday!

To those of you who are currently a "maybe" -- you may want to update yopur RSVP now (assuming your plans have solidified)...

Cheers!

Dan - you need to have a no option for those not coming. So I hope you don't mind -- I added a no option in.

Ok. (I figured "no"s can just not sign up; but I suppose it's useful for those who start of as maybes and then have to back out.)
