Alright here's another "HALP ME!" type of post. (I couldn't find any previous ones relating to this topic, but I only searched back about 5 pages worth)

Helping a friend by shooting their wedding this summer. A part of this deal is also shooting their engagement photos.

Wedding photos, I get. Bride, Groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, little kids in adorable outfits they'll probably only wear once.

But I'm trying to figure out ideas for engagement photos since that's coming up sooner. Nothing I can really find is... inspiring... or "standard".

Is it basically just photos of the couple, showing off how much they <3 each other?

Each couple is different, Different personalities, different quirks about them. Try and express them in your photos

Sound advice from Tyler. Talk to the couple. See what they're comfortable with, what kind of look they want ie fun, humorous, romantic etc. Try and read their personality while you're chatting with them and go from there.

Hm I've only done a couple of engagement shoots and they were mostly directed by the person I was assisting (though he let me direct a couple photos, which was nice) so I don't have much advice. However, a friend of mine does engagement shoots and weddings and has some really great shots here that I know I'd really love to be in - http://evanmcmaster.com/index2.php#/gallery1/2/ so I hope you find those inspiring. I really like the shots where he's pulled in the surrounding environment.
