They did a complete reno a few years back. Downstairs it's all stainless steel. Truth be told, I preferred it when it was a complete hole.

Just quick snaps taken overhead using Live View, with my E-P2. I couldn't get a better angle on it because of the police cordon, but I had better access than most by going out of our loading dock ;)

The bricks only have one design flaw......you need mortar to hold them on the wall!!!

For once the place was buzzing with news helicopters, instead of ORNGE air ambulances.

crap i have to go that way to go home....

I walk out there around 4:30pm and saw the cordon. I was on Yonge, so didn't see what bricks fell causing the big closure. Looking out the window, I see they still have the north side of Yonge closed.

Seemed like a good choice at the time :)

I should have included the shot of the front saying "Prime retail space for rent".

RIP Salad King!

I doubt that this will kill Salad King. It looks like they're taking pains to only demo that particular section of the building, that the facing has come off of. It just means they'll have to dip into some of the massive amount of money that the good folks owning the place have socked away, over the years, and take a little vacation.

Tatami might well be toast though.

It's sure going to make it interesting getting around at work though. Bond is already restricted to north-bound only. Church is under construction and Shuter is frequently closed in the afternoons.

Next time your down there check out the NW corner, it seems to be a long way from straight, demolishing the centre part of the upper floor and roof without first bracing might result in extensive damage to the rest of the building.

the machine that did the demolition work at this building was trucked over from the CAMH site, where the last building was taken down yesterday. I was shooting the CAMH demolition yesterday both stills and video 1080p.

As far as I know, 2 or 3 bicycles were fatally injured. I haven't heard about any people being hurt, which is a minor miracle.
