Hi,

Has anyone had any expereince with these knock off versions of BG-E6?

These two pieces look identical to me and I am wondering if it's worthwhile to pay the extra $20 to get the Phottix version.

Thanks,

A

For starters, the rubber part is different, the Canon one wraps around the whole grip, both ebay ones end at the bottom (no rubber on back). Main difference is the feel of the grip. The Canon grip panels and battery door are magnesium while the ebay ones are plastic. Also heard of stories where batteries are dying through a third party grip. IMO, I'd would just stick with Canon. No regrets there. Get a used one on CL for a cheaper price.

There also many reviews and opinions online. Google plz.

OP if you are going with aftermarket than there is no need to get phottix, if anything some of their products are marked up more than no name aftermarket which is both the same quality. So basically you are paying a tad of a premium for 'Phototix' aftermarket product.

No battery issues from the many people who use aftermarket grips. If anything they are exceptional value for the price. Besides the batteries are so low in cost if one does die you can always replace it.

Grip on OEM canon is much better built quality though. Batteries I personally would have no problem going aftermarket. Your call but there is a great savings buying non-OEM grip.
