According to this late April to early May is when they're in bloom. It would be nice to get a first hand report though.

Edit: Here may be a better spot for updates on the blossoms.

Lol. I would love a day by day update posted here if possible.

I'd say May 1st or May 8 to be an awesome time to go.

Anyone have any friends with kimonos that we can use as models for the cherry blossoms for an ad-hoc? =p

Do you mean from the crowds? or people asking you to "move along" or asking for permits?

Hi everyone:

My backyard apricot tree has blooms that just opened today.

Question: Does anyone know of any other mature blossom bearing trees in public places in the GTA that are worthy of being photographed? Last year I mentioned Kariya Park in Mississauga. The cherry blossoms usually bloom in late April/early May. Check it out if you can. It's a small park, but very impressive.

Thanks

Thanks for the tip... Mississauga is much closer than High park for me.
Plus the wife is always dragging me to Square One... LOL

Funny, I stopped by Kariya Park last Saturday to check it out for a potential engagement shoot. It's a small interesting park. There's a couple potential looks to it but I can see it being crowded when it blooms. Supposedly has a nice strand of Japanese maples.

Thanks for the Kariya Park tip. It is only 5 mins drive from work for me. And street parking out front too! Sweet.

Just an FYI that you have to pay for parking now. :?

I just got back from there, but only a couple of trees out front have bloomed. I'd give it maybe 1.5 to 2 weeks I think...

Thanks Bernard for showing the beautiful photo.

What a bummer, that people have to pay for parking. Is it the street parking or that dusty, gravel pit lot that's charging?

I tell you, I've lived in Mississauga for more than 35 years, and although there are some benefits to living here it can also be so unwelcoming to visitors and even its own residents.

They took a sweet spot and turned it sour. Hopefully, the parking at Square One is free so that one can walk from there even though it's a bit of a walk.

Agree about the whole street parking issue. The pay parking is the street parking right in front.

Nothing like this in High Park just yet. Just tiny buds on the trees.

A few have started to come out and they are still predicting peak this weekend. So 2 weeks will be too late especially if we get wind or rain.

A friend just posted pics of cherry blossoms around UofT campus.
High park blossoms can't be too far behind.

Gah...great...this weekend is supposed to be rain and cold...and of course by Monday it'll be sunny again. Do the weekend Gods really hate us or something?

Friday is at least warm (18c)...though isolated showers...
