This is a big one, folks. blogTO is hosting an exhibition at the 2010 CONTACT photography festival, and we want to feature your photos.

So, if you think your work is worthy of the gallery treatment, this is your chance to garner the attention you deserve.

Maybe you have your own version of the most expensive photograph ever sold, Andreas Gursky's 99 Cent (1999).

The submission process is outlined below, but you can also read the full post and FAQ here:

blogTO CONTACT Photo Conest & Exhibit

More information to follow...

SUBMISSION PROCESS

To submit photos to this contest, please ensure your original photos meet the following minimum requirements. These will be required in order for us to properly print and frame them for the exhibit:

- Original photos should be at least 240 dpi (although 300 dpi is preferred)
- Photos should scale to 12x18 inches.
- Photos can be colour or black and white.

To submit your photos, you have two options:

1. Submit them to the blogTO Flickr Pool and tag them with blogto99cents

2. Email the photos (or a link to where we can download them) to 99cents [at] blogto [dotcom]

The submission deadline is 11:59pm, March 31st, 2010

Please note:

1. If one of your photos is selected for the exhibit we will contact you to coordinate retrieval of the print-ready version. You do not need to submit the print-ready (original) version for the contest. You simply must need to be able to make it available should your photo be selected for the exhibit.

2. You must be a Toronto area resident to participate.

Well.... that just eliminated a huge population of people here.

Hmmm. My apologies if that's the case. I figured that the vast majority of members in Toronto Photography Meetup Group were from the Toronto area, and that this would relevant to them.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend or anything, but there are a lot of folks here at TPMG that don't physically live in Toronto proper. I would personally love to enter a contest like this, as I have tons of Toronto images, but I am a resident of Ajax. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

Thanks, Jerrold. I'll go and see if I have anything that is worthy of the gallery treatment :D But what would happen to the photo that make it to the exhibition but does not end up selling???

I thought that the Toronto area extended to about Kingston to the east and London in the west.

:) Thanks for that.... not quite that far! But seriously.... I work and pretty much live 80% of my life within city boundries, and yet I can't enter a contest just because I go to bed in the 905 area. That is unfortunate. I would have liked the opportunity.

It's not just a photo about Toronto = it's a contest around the 99 cent theme. The prize is even less than 99 cents (though one's favorite charity would benefit)

There's plenty of other contests with bigger prizes etc, why not try your skills there?

Hi everyone,

To clarify a few points and answer your questions...

We want to involve people who live in the area and are able to attend the exhibit opening... we're aiming for a community project here. That said, I think that if you are able to contribute in these ways, then please do!

blogTO will be covering the printing and display costs for works selected for exhibition.

Exhibited works will be made available for sale (unless you declare that you don't want yours to be), with all proceeds of sales going to the charity of your choice. The charity will be indicated next to the price.

Any unsold framed prints will be given to the photographers.

Hope that clarifies things!

All the best,
Jerrold

This is great. Thanks for clarifying.

I hope I could submit my photo before the deadline and get selected and... :D
