Where: Workman Arts (St. Anne's Parish Hall) 651 Dufferin Street (thanks to David)
Bring: Yourself plus $2 for materials and $2 for TPMG

You will learn at home developing of 35mm or 120 B&W film using simple inexpensive equipment.

More details to follow later.

Please be considerate of your fellow TPMGers and give plenty of notice if you have to cancel your registration. If you register and don't show up expect to be ostracized unless you have a really really good excuse

If this goes well there will be one or more repeat sessions later.

This Blog entry is a work in progress with reference material for home developing:

I'd be attending straight from work since it's so close to me. I'd also be game for some dinner before this event. College and Ossington is home to many 'gems'.

And I'm sure there are many others.

We could hookup at 5-5:30 then head over to the church.

My finger is hovering over the "Yes" button, but since I am already processing 35mm B+W at home, I will wait until the "newbies" are done registering.

If you are already doing it at home this workshop will not tell you much as it's geared to showing people how with a small amount of care it is simple to develop your own and obtain excellent results.

I need a volunteer to shoot a roll of 24 35mm B&W Iso800 film at the seminar? I will supply the roll and we will develop it right then and there

Someone must have an old F5 or other pro film body that can hammer that roll out in 3 seconds flat :)

Med 8 frames a second machine gun style might be fun but I would like to get at least one shot of each of the participants :)

Shelley and David who ever has the fastest lens gets the film :?:

Does anyone have a hair dryer with a low heat setting so that we can quick dry the film?

I don't own any f/1.2 or 1.4 lenses - so I am sure Shelley has that one wrapped up.

No matter we can alway push the film to ISO 1600 if needed.

Just in case anyone missed the details above --- the location is Workman Arts at 651 Dufferin Street (just north of Dundas Street). Please use the side north entrance (glass doors)... I'll have a sign on the main door to remind you where to go. Come down the stairs and into the kitchen! See you tonight.

Hi!

It turns out I have to work a bit later this evening so I might be a bit late.

How long do you think this session will run?

I can't really say because this is the first one, maybe an hour and a half.

Okay thanks! I am going to de-register in case I am not able to make it over on time (I'm not sure how late I will be). If the slot is still open when I'm able to go I will (if the slot is still open), but I don't want to not show up when someone else is able to make it.

Sorry about this!

-J

I learned how to do it some 20 years ago, so I thought I might learn something up to date, or at least hang around others of like mind for a while.

Turns out I got way too busy anyway. I hope you all had fun.

I found this session to be extremely informative (new to film, never seen a canister opened before!). Thanks very much for doing this Ryan, and thanks David for offering the space.

Thanks everyone for coming out. Thanks David for supplying the place (hopefully you can scan and post a couple of the results). Sorry Shelley it went on for longer then expected (I will try to tighten it up for next time) I hope you didn't get home too late.
