So I'm ready to develop my first roll of 120 tri-x shot at 1600. I also picked up a bottle of hc-110. I've been doing standard development using D-76, and that's been going fine, but this will be my first try at pushing.

I've scoured the interwebs for techniques using this combination, but the messages I'm getting is mixed and a little conflicting. Some say dilution B for 7 minutes. Some say that's too long. Some say dilution H for 16 minutes. etc. etc.

One consensus that I notice people suggesting is stand development which I saw in the other thread as well. I think I'll save stand developing for a later time and see if I can develop this using traditional agitation techniques first.

Sooo, I'm curious to know of specific techniques and times that anyone else might have been using when using this combination of film (@1600) and developer? I have a pack of D76 that I haven't mixed yet, and so maybe I should just stick to that and follow kodak's specs? I would like to give the hc-110 a try though. Again, using standard agitation.

Or do my googling skills need to improve?

I'm assuming that it's Tri-X 400 that you're pushing.

I haven't tried it, but the Massive Dev chart says 16min at dilution B. Dilution H is always double that of B.

I've got some 35mm T-Max 400 I'd like to try at 1600 in HC110, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Yup, Tri-X 400. I saw a note saying that the massive dev chart gives the times based on the 'old' version of Tri-X, and I'm assuming the current stuff that we buy is not the old flavour hence my uncertainty.

Ah, I just noticed the note about that. I thought it was T-Max that was changed.

The Kodak site ought to have the info you need.

How's this: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professi ... /f4017.pdf

Thanks for the link, ofermod, but according to what I've read, those are not to be trusted :!: (for hc-110 and tri-x) apparently. I've used the recommended non-pushed d76 times successfully though.

Aw heck. I'm just going to pull some numbers out of my behind and go with it to see what comes out . Let's see ... I'm going to use dilution B for 9 minutes@20 deg. 2-3 inversions on the minute. Will report on results.

Time to hit the wash...I mean...darkroom!

For Tri-X @ iso 1600, I use Diafine. Works very well for me.

Well now, just looking at the hanging negatives, I don't think my first try is as good as I'd hope it to be. Looks very contrasty. I don't have a proper 6x6 scanner, and so I'll have to wait until I get into work and use the scanner there tomorrow to really see the outcome.

Diafine is on the list of developers I'd like to try next. Thanks for the tips, guys!
