So I am thinking of starting up the lecture's again, probably in January and into the spring... but we have now officially lost the space at 1001 Queen st (where I work). The building officially closed on Friday, and is no longer accessible to the public.

But, the good news, is that we still have the lecture hall at 250 College Street (CAMH), and I am going to have a quick chat with my manager and find out if I can use that space.

But... in the meantime. What would people like to see presented? And if so, does anyone have any contacts, or would like to present something themselves! Send me your idea's, connections, or proposals, and I'll start to work on something for the new year.

thanks,

David

Apparently there are people at the Toronto Star who would come out and give a talk (and for free, I believe!). Would that be of interest to people? A talk from a staff photographer or someone like that?

Yes, definately sounds cool! Lucas Oleniuk came and talked to the beach photo club, at it was great.

As I had mentioned to you before( wow, back in May!) I'd asked Sam Javanrouh of daily dose of imagery (http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/) fame to do a talk about his successful blog and the rest of his stuff and he's up to it, just needs a heads up regarding the date in January.

I'm a big fan of Sam as well, hopefully he'll show up! :)

I'd totally be up for attending this!

Maybe it's been done before but I'd like to see somebody talk about the steps for going amateur to hired, challenges and lessons, resources they recommend for getting into the game, using their own experience and story as an example.

Been swamped... so haven't really had time to organize anything... probably not until the spring, and definately we'll do another members night.

I've been talking to the library at Broadview and Gerrard and they have two very nice lecture room one will hold over 60 people. The problem is that they don't have any projectors. So if anyone can borrow a projector these types of events could be held there.

For anyone that is interested. They are roughly 1/2 way done in tearing down the old CAMH administration building. Sad to see it go, but it will be replaced by brand new facilities which will better suit our needs. The lecture theatre section of the building should start to be demolished this coming week. I am hoping to get a few pictures tomorrow.

Take photos lxdesign. Nothing last long here. Was the building being torn down attractive?
