Details:

What: The Badlands and whatever else Susan has in mind
When: Saturday Mar 6th or Sunday Mar 7th
Time: 2pm - sunset
Where: meet at Starbucks by the Port Credit lighthouse
Bring: whatever you think is necessary

Alright, this is my attempt at another Ad-hoc event and it will probably go awry given that I'm throwing out the option of 2 dates and pretty last minute at that. Anyway, I wanted to give people the option of joining us for this outing. I'm polling for interest between the two days since apparently both will be great.

I have room in my car for 2 more people. If we go on Sunday then my car will be heading back soon after sunset due to other obligations.
If you want to come along and can drive, please let people know.

Let the games begin!

Hey Mr. Walczak. If I remember correctly, it's Tyler right? Anyway, I believe we're talking about the same badlands. I've never been there before either, but that sounds about where Susan was talking about. I live around Main & Danforth (Main Subway station). Whereabouts are you? Would you be able to meet at Main subway? Which day are you interested in?

The Cheltenham Badlands are between Mississauga RD & Hwy#10 on Olde Base Line Rd. The Cheltenham Brickworks are on Mississauga Rd just south, and the abandoned house is just south of that.

Being in the afternoon, today would work better for me as I'll be busy in the evening tomorrow and would need to leave by 4:00 or 4:30 depending where we are. Today I could likely meet you in the area around 3:00 or 4:00 although I can't be sure of the time.

Here are some shots I took a while ago from there. While not the best of photos, at least is shows you a bit what it is like. A nice time to go there is in the fall. Lots of beautiful farms in Caledon.

OK, we'll probably head out today.

Tyler: I'll PM you with my phone number.
Janetliz: Thanks for the PM, I'll give you a call.

Wish that I had noticed this before. I'm maybe 20-25 minutes from The Badlands and it's one of my favourite places. I'd have likely brought a garbage bag to pick up the crap that unthinking idiots toss around there though.

*EDIT* Let's see if this works. Google did a drive-by with their street level camera car:

It was my first time going to the badlands and it was pretty neat. Thanks again Susan for being the navigator.

Rob: There's snow covering most of the place so I didn't see much garbage. Garbage bags would have been better served over my boots as it was a bit muddy at the top.

Here's a view from the top.

We didn't spend too much time there as we wanted to find a better spot for sunset.

I would definitely like to go back in the summer and do some hiking on the trails.
