From one of my supplier manager that I spoke to. They are setting the pre-release price to $4,865.09 Canadian on the new lens. I think it's not gonna be too far off when the release date come closer. It's quite pricy I know.

Wow at that price, it makes me want to switch over to Nikon.

indeed. I'm pretty sure my supply manager was just being greedy and wanted people to pre-order at that ridiculous price.

I have hunch, just a hunch that this lens is going to be the sharpest 2.8 zoom on the market. I'm going by the dramatic increase in performance we saw from the 70-200 F4 to F4 IS versions. The older F4 came out around the same time as the original 2.8, so hopefully whatever design and manufacturing process improvements were made to the F4 would be put to use in the 2.8 Mark II.

Do you work for Canon by any chance? :LOL Just kidding !!
I sure hope that is true. And I hope that there won't be as much copy to copy variation. I would hate to pay so much and end up with a "bad copy". I was lucky to get a very sharp copy of the MKI, still kicking myself for selling it.

Well, I keep hearing that the new Nikkor 70-200 is pretty sharp .. I hope that the new Canon version will match it at least.

HOLY! Took 'em long enough to set a North American price! Now to wait for reviews. Thanks Spencer. A little more than what I wanted to spend. I guess that means street price will be around $2400.CDN. Bye bye 24mm TS II...

Nice! I'm sold! Time to place a pre-order. lol

Oh oh, did his MKIV AF fail on Tessa Virtue on pic #11? Soft in the eyes but her scarf and the Olympic patch on her jacket are sharp (1/8", f2.8 @ ISO50).

Probably just some head movement or blinking.. 1/8s is pretty damn slow :)

Good compensation with the IS otherwise.

OK, any Canadian price yet? I am ready to get a quote for one from Golden and Amazing. Once I get a best price for one quote then I will go and ask for a group buy price. So far I have the following list :
WKHC x2 (one for a friend)
Carlton x1
StE823 x1
Dope-A-Lotx1

confirmation?
anybody else want to join?

Yeah, I'm in for sure. Assuming of course the price is better than retail.

My 70-200 2.8 non-IS is gonna need a new home soon.

Why don't you u guys buy it from another province and save the tax eg. from Broadway Camera in B.C. Wouldn't it make more sense to save some money on tax?

Gonna pass on the Sigma 70-200 but that new Sigma 85mm f1.4 could be an option. :D

Not too shabby. Prices getting better!

I can't get a definite price yet from my source. I'm told to wait a couple weeks for a solid price. I'll let ya know what price I can get on a group discount.
