I am hoping to get may hands on a Canon 1DmarkIV in the near future which means I will not be able to process RAW images easily. My current version of Photoshop is CS3, and we all know Adobe will not update older versions of Camera Raw for newer cameras. With CS5 soon to be released, I will not upgrade to CS4 anymore.

I am currently running Zoombrowser 6.4.1. I downloaded some mark IV RAW images but Zoombrowser would not open them (although it works form my mark III images). I would also prefer a method that does not require to save as a TIFF but works much like Camera RAW.

So what is the best, easiest and most importantly free method to process RAW images for the time being?

Thanks

Apple's last update included 1DIV raw support.

Buy/borrow/steal a Mac.

Download Adobe's latest DNG converter, which will work on 1D Mark IV raw files. Then you can process the DNGs with CS3.

This won't help with Photoshop or Lightroom...

Thanks Captain Obvious.

To the OP, doesn't the MKIV come packaged with a Canon solution for processing it's RAW files?

Thanks - that did the trick

Now all I need is to get my hands on a mark IV - that's the hard part.

At least I'm not the one making useless suggestions.

I would expect it does, but I do not have the camera yet so I do not not know what is in the software package.

It comes with DPP like all Canon DSLR's. Kinda clunky, but it works. DNG Converter is a much cleaner solution
