I have a set of these and I'm wondering if they can be use to trigger the camera if I get the right cord for it? I was at Vistek and the sales guy there wasn't sure if it could or not. Does anyone here have a set of these and have tried it?

If you have the universal one yes and no. If your camera uses a 2.5mm sub-mini jack for the remote, you can. You will need to buy a 3.5mm to 2.5mm stereo (NOT mono) adapter. If you bought the mono adapter, your camera will continuously fire the shutter.

If you have a Canon camera with the RS-80N3 remote, you can do a mod like this:

I guess then I'm SOL as my remote jack is a 10 pin connection, right? So using a 10pin to a 2.5 adapter will not work?

I didn't know those existed. If they do, perhaps. I take it you're a Nikon shooter?

Yeah, I'm a Nikon guy. There is a 10 pin to 2.5 adapter. Next time I go to Vistek I'll bring my wireless triggers to try out the cable to see if it works or not.

If not, I'll have to get some PW in the future.

Cool! Keep us posted on if it works. My bro-in-law is a Nikon shooter and he was asking me about this earlier last year.
