Hi all, I am pretty wet behind the ears about camera gear. I recently bought a Lumix FZ35 http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Cameras-Camcorders/Digital-Cameras/Lumix-Digital-Cameras/model.DMC-FZ35K.S_11002_7000000000000005702#tabsection

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for good lenses/etc I can use with the camera.. I was looking at this 2X telephoto / wide angle lens thing... http://www.butterflyphoto.com/prodinfo.phtml?id=12787&ref=nextopia

but I thought I'd ask if anyone had any suggestions for a newbie

Sakar brand isn't a quality brand. I've seen Sakar add-on lenses in person (at Henry's Outlet Centre), and I haven't been impressed.

Personally (when I had an ultra-zoom camera (Olympus C-700) that could take add-on lenses) the best ones I've found were Raynox brand.

Raynox has a page showing the lenses on a camera similar to the FZ35 (the FZ18), and if you click on a particular lens you can see what the image looks like straight from the camera, and with the add-on lens:
http://raynox.co.jp/english/digital/fz18/index.htm

I had the Raynox DCR-2020 (2.2x), and the DCR-6600 (0.66x) lenses.

Before Raynox I've tried other teleconverters (too soft) and wide-angle converters (barrel distortion).

Since that's your first post to TPMG, WELCOME!!!

Thanks for the welcome!

And thanks for the reply, my fear was the Sakar lenses weren't the best quality.. but I don't know what I'm looking for.. so I'm grateful you pointed out better ideas.

I'm off to the zoo to take pics : )
