Hi all,

I was wondering where can I find this kind of hotshoe that you can put on the lightstand here in Toronto.

I searched for it in Vistek but wasn't able to find it. I think I am not using the right keyword for it.

I am looking for a cheap one but atleast reliable enough to support a flash and an umbrella. I saw one on ebay but it isn't a good time to buy one right cause it's xmas (had an experience before it took my shipment a month to recieve it).

I wouldn't mind a used one as well as long as it is still working properly. Just pm me.

Thanks,
John

You can pick them up from Vistek and Henry's for under $40. You can find them cheaper on ebay etc.

I bought a couple of these:

They work well, but have limitations (read the reviews).

You can try this guy too:

http://stores.shop.ebay.ca/STUDIO-98

Look under "Umbrella, Reflector & Package"

I bought a hotshoe adapter, umbrella and stand from him last week. Delivery was pretty much overnight from waterloo (i think), to Toronto. He'll do pickups as well if you're in the area.

The quality of it is nothing to shout about, but for my purposes indoors, it will suffice. I would be very careful taking it outdoors.

Henrys sells a Manfrotto one and an Opus one, both work very well.

MPEX in the US has some very inexpensive ones. They're the vendor of choice for strobist.com

Thanks for all the input guys!

I like the manfrotto 026 but they sell it at henrys for CAD$50 which is USD$30 at bhp (don't want to compare apples from oranges but this sure is quite a difference). I was also interested with the cheaper ones that were posted but the cons got me scared because I don't want to buy another mount if I am unhappy with the results.

This one looks neat for a few bucks... I guess I might consider US again during the xmas season.

I prefer the ones with the studs and removable cold shoes - depending on the triggers you have (assuming you have triggers), screwing them onto the studs directly rather than attaching via the shoe is much more secure. RF-602s, I'm looking in your direction.
