Yikes, this is a hazard for anyone! Not just photographers.

I've seen a lot of close calls and forgotten gear at group events. Some folks have a tendency to get very tunneled vision once they get focused on taking pics (or talking on their cell, Blackberry etc). I feel for the girl that got hit. Hope she has a quick recovery.

That nearly happened to me this weekend. Thank goodness I wasn't jay walking. I tripped on my wide leg jeans while crossing the street. Last time I wear those shooting. Fortunately traffic had already stopped.

Looking at the remains of the beautiful sunset then ouch.

The hood, back of my hand and my forearm took the brunt of it. Nothing broken.

Sucks to hear that something like that happened, but it reinforces that you have to keep your wits about you while shooting. I get a lot of practise of that sort around the track while shooting candids, as at any moment a rider might come whipping down the pit lanes back to his pits. I haven't become a fairing bra yet, but there have been a couple of near misses.
