I'm on Henry's email newsletter list, and they've always sent me a free ticket to their Digital Imaging show that I could print out. Although I'm still on the email list (got one a few days ago), this time there was no free ticket.

Anyone else in the same position? I could probably go to the store and get a free ticket from one of the staff, but I can't be bothered--and I'm not about to spend $15 on what is basically a sales event.

They sent me a pair of complimentary tickets for this month's show...twice!

Maybe they finally realized it wasn't even worth the free admission.

Well, the seminars given by Henry's people deal with fairly basic stuff, and are mostly an ad for their full-length seminars. But I see that the inimitable Gary Fong will give a seminar on weddings--which I assume will be mostly an ad for his DVD on the subject, but should still be fun. And there's a seminar called "Choosing the right filter for your DSLR" that should last about 30 seconds ("Buy a polarizer, and possibly a graduated neutral density filter; anything else is a waste of money.")

Actually, the main reason I'm going is to get a chance to handle the Canon G11. I have one on order but it's not in the stores yes. Maybe Canon will bring in some stock to sell at the show...

I guess my initial posting was premature. Since then--in addition to the link that was thoughtfully provided by MikeES--I got two other emails with pdf ticket files to be printed out, one from Henry's and the other from Canon.

Now I'd better go to the show!

I went last time and the only thing I found fun was the auction... but they really didn't have too much good stuff for sale on the day I went. I got two tickets too. I'm not going this year tho'.

It's already past, but the best thing about this type of show is the ability to talk to the manufacturers and distributors of products.

I went for the first time and heard an interesting talk from a portrait photographer, got to play with a D3s and some rarer tilt/shift lenses, and shot some frames with a 39MP digital back on my Hasselblad.

All this and I didn't spend a dime... not a bad value, I'd say.

I've got a PIXMA900 for 199$. Open box demo unit but with all the ink cartridges full and in perfect shape.

It was by Bobbi Lane, who works somewhere out of the US. She was brought in by Bowens and spoke in the Headshots "Pro" area. She went through and dissected some of her work strobist style, and never sounded like she was a traveling salesperson (Gary Fong, Sony, et al)
