Hey James, can you test if they will work as a remote shutter and flash trigger at the same time please?

Tested it and nope it won't work with just one transmitter. You need two transmitters for this to work. There is a slight delay (camera shutter) so it doesn't sync with the flashes.

I tried it with the yongnuo transmitter on the camera hot shoe and another wireless trigger(not yongnuo) connected to the camera's 3 pin connector and that synced up fine. But if you want to do this entirely with yongnuo transmitters you have to buy at least two.

How does daisy chaining work? I have 301P's - can I daisy chain to those?

It can be specific to the triggers you are using. For the 602 and the PWs I have the 602 transmitter on my camera hot shoe, a 602 receiver plugs into the Pocket Wizards "camera/flash" port. The flash is connected connected to the Pocket Wizards "flash" port. You can even put another flash on the 602s hot shoe connector so that you are not using up a receiver just for daisy chaining.

Here's a pic of the PW ports so there is no confusion:

If I can a chance I will take a pic of the 602 daisy chained to the PW when I'm at home.

Thanks SD. What is the benefit of daisy chaining them together - more receivers?

no sync delays? even at 1/200?

I've noticed the 602s can sometimes be a bit slow on my setup, producing a darkened lower part of the frame.

I'll have to play around more with them to know. With the adapter that the 602 comes with for the 3.5mm connection it doesn't appear to be that reliable. I will have to test it out some more.

The max sync on my 40D with my 301P's is 1/200 although I should be getting 1/250, so says Canon and Yongnuo. I suppose if I sprang for PW's and they were not doing what they said they would do I would be upset but with these cheap triggers, I am very impressed. I can honestly say in well over a thousand frames, I don't think my 301P's have misfired.

Finally got my triggers today. So far so good at 1/250, works pretty good.

Off axis flash is awesome, I have seen the light, no pun intended. Took these pics of the receivers since the transmitter is on the camera hotshoe. Played around with the aperture and handholding the flash from different angles and now my product shots look much better than before.

Nice product shot V. I like the specular highlights on the edge of the receiver. Glad you are enjoying off camera flash. :)

i got mine as well but unfortunately being cheap is going to force me to order more later (got 1+1 not 1+3).

i was hoping that having the receiver on a 580 set to master+manual mode will trigger the other 580 with no receiver set to slave+manual but no go. i guess the signal is somehow different. pushing pilot button as a test will trigger the slaves but not taking a shot/pushing the button on the transmitter.

but the product itself works really well, using it as a wireless remote for camera seemed pretty stable as well.

I only have one 580exII but I still got 3 receivers for future expansion.

I'm interested in the rf-602 3x receiver 1x transmitter as soon as the price is confirmed.

I have a question just in case anyone knows.

I have a Canon XSI and 40D. Waht do I need to get to use the RF-602 with both cameras?

hmm I don't think we're doing a group buy for this anymore, most people just ordered individually from the ebay shop.

the 602 should work with both cameras. the difference between canon & nikon version from what I can tell is the wire that can be used for wirelessly triggering the camera. when triggering a flash the brand doesn't seem to matter.

Thanks for the help. I ended up ordering off ebay as well for $83 CDN.

As you mentioned the cable to trigger the camera remotely is what is different. I wil order that separately if I ever need it.

Any opinions on getting good rechargeable CR2 batteries?

I've hacked the cables and put on a 3.5 mm jack.

My RF-602 was working just fine until today. The transmitter lights up but doesn't trigger any of my 3 receivers. Any tips or ideas?

What troubleshooting have you done? I would make sure the dip switches (frequency) is the same and change/check the battery for starters. If you are trying the transmitter mounted on the camera I would make sure it's seated properly and try it using the button on the transmitter.

I'm going to try a new CR2 battery because I don't trust the Yongnuo branded one. The transmitter lights up when pressed but it may be on its last legs. The receivers I can easily use new AAA but I'll need to find a CR2 from somewhere.

Check and check. The last time it worked was testing it on my friend's Xti last night and then this morning I took it on a shoot on my 20D and it just didn't work.

Problem solved. My friend opened up the transmitter to see the battery and put it back in the wrong way. All three receivers now trigger the flash.

Just like the typically "You forgot to take off your lens cap" situations.
