The faces look like possible single image HDR work but the rest of the photo looks normal. Mild facial imperfections can really be exagerated this way. My guess is single image HDR and then masking out all but the face and overlaying with the original image. But I'm sure there are other possiblities as well.

Sharpening around the eyes is so strong that it is a dead give away for heavy digital work. And plenty of selective shading and blurring. Skin tones and textures look like he has selected just the blue or green channel on blotchy red skin for the black and white conversion, and then probably upped the contrast. All in all plenty of work in the opposite direction than all the 'how to airbrush the bride' PS tips.

Could be if they shot with a blue (or possibly green) filter on black and white film. They still did plenty of post work for sharpening, blurring etc (some images show more than one 'plane of sharpness').

Adding a B&W high contrast blue filter and adjusting the fill value in PS can really bring out the imperfections in skin.

Applied Arts Magazine. You can find it at chapters. I went to Humber.

I don't know the photographer, but I have seen him in action as one of his photos is of a performance art piece that I watched last Novemeber/December. (I refer to the blonde girl/dead pig photo). Since I was there, I know there was no dead pig there at all. It is heavy, heavy photoshop and not my preference.
