Recently purchased a Hasselblad 500 C/M.

Can someone recommend a cheap place to get the film developed and scanned ? I checked into Toronto Image Works, developing and a scan seemed to be around $15, more for the higher res scan.

I had heard about a SDM that does it, but the posts I found were all over a year old and I wasn't sure if they scanned.

Unfortunately, my Coolscan 5000 doesn't handle 120 film... and I can't afford the 9000 + 120 holder.

I live and work in the downtown area, so something in the core would be ideal.

thanks !

There are really no inexpensive scanning services that I know of in town. Plenty of inexpensive developers Shoppers at king and yonge is the cheapest at $3.

Downtown Camera only charges $5 plus developing cost for a medium resolution scan (cheaper then TIW) but they charge more for cross processing or pushing.

If you are going to do a lot the epson V500 is probably the best for price scanner available Last time I checked Henry surplus store had some open box sales

as Metrix said, there is no 'cheap' way to shoot MF film... if you plan to shoot a lot, get a proper scanner... and learn to print using an enlarger...

Thanks Metrix. I am not likely to need to do cross-processing or pushing.

I'll check out the Henry's outlet the next time I am down there.

Downtown camera is about $12.

A bit off topic... so if I buy the Epson V500, do I just get it developed at DC then just scan it myself? Simple as that? Been shooting film a lot so I may consider getting it. Anybody else use this scanner? Easy to use?

I just got one last week (Henry's outlet, open box, $200).

Scanning was easier than I expected despite the flimsy plastic holder (which I found somewhat bent in the box :S ). I just load the film and let the software go. Mind you, I'm just scanning 35mm.
Epson software works fine -- downloaded the Snow Leopard version directly from Epson. I didn't install anything else.
My only problem now is that Aperture 2 doesn't like to touch up the 16bit grayscale .tiffs.

I've been using an Epson V700 for over a year now, simple to use, great results from medium format and 4x5.

Bought a V500 at the Henry's outlet. The best price they would give me was $220. God do I ever hate Henry's.
