2x 10' light stands
Yongnuo RF-602 transmitter and two receivers
Cactus V4 transmitter and receiver
Phottix remote trigger for a 5D
wired remote trigger for 5D

This is probably the best strobist video I know of strobist "preliminaries". Well worth the 7:51 minutes of your time. :)

ok peeps

Its time for homework before our lesson next week. We have the following information that will be covered in next week's session and we'll be able to "experiment" after we have this lesson.

It'll be in High Park, and we'll meet 6:30pm at the Grenedier Cafe in the outside cafe (plenty of free parking) and about a 5-8 min walk from High Park (east end exit --> BUs side) TTC station.

If you have any questions about the material, bring it with you to the session and since we're doing this outside, we're going to open up the registration. Everyone can bring gear, a friend, or anything. Its in High Park and I don't think we can fill up the place. If you do bring a non-TPMG member, please let me know prior as I would still like to keep this a majorly TPMG event

Read up! :D

This is also a good spot to learn about Strobist Lighting.

One thing to keep in mind - you may be thinking to yourself all this strobist stuff is fine and dandy but I just want to dabble with it.

This is my thought on the subject - Photography is largely about Light and the quality of light - without it you don't have a picture. Therefore I like to think of photography as "The Art of Light". So once you understand how light interacts and affects your photos then you will have a much better understanding of photography in general and your photography will only improve.

I will leave you with another link - yes, more reading on photography and light :)

I would imagine we will be there until at least 10 PM (for me anyways), since it is a school night ;) I think Justin was talking about hanging out even later than that.

everyone, I must apologize myself, but I won't be able to attend anymore. A very good friend of mine suffered a great tragedy and I will be with them on Wednesday.

Wishing you all the best guys...

He lost his older sister and I hope I can help him out, but I think being there for him is the most important right now.

Thanks a lot SD

Hi All,

Due to a myriad of reasons - Justin not being able to attend on wednesday, not enough daylight, cold and rain in the forecast - we have decided to reschedule this event for this Sunday the 4th of October from 10am to 2 pm. Hopefully everyone will still be able to attend. This will allow us enough daylight to talk about the theory and do some practical exercises. The location remains unchanged: "High Park, at the Grenedier Cafe and Tea House in the outside cafe (plenty of free parking) and about a 5-8 min walk from High Park (east end exit --> Bus side) TTC station. 200 Parkside Dr, Toronto, Ontario"

http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&um=1&i ... um=6&ct=14

We apologize for the late notice. Remember to read up on the theory (see links previously posted) so we can hit the ground running and bring all the gear you have so we can play :)

Note: The organizers are not strobist experts by any stretch of the imagination but hopefully together we will all have a better understanding of off camera lighting at the end of the workshop. :)
Cheers.

I should be up for this, but I wonder how many others will not have recovered from Nuit Blanche the night before to attend.

Personally, I'd rather attend this than spend the night out, but that's just me. :)

Oh, and, I propose not changing the date anymore. Let's be undemocratic, set the day and whoever can attend, attends. No offence intended of course to those who cannot make it for one reason or another.

I understand the rationale for moving it, but the new date puts me as a strong "maybe not" for a myriad of reasons. I will leave myself in the "yes" column for now, but may just withdraw in the next couple days.

Two sessions perhaps?

The 4th doesn't really work for me.

No offence, but don't you think the organizer's should have say on when and where their own event will be held? If two of the organizer's say that's a bad day, then it's a bad day. :)

I think you might have misunderstood. I meant that the newer date that the organisers have picked should be fixed. In any case, yes, I agree with you; of course the organisers have every right to choose whatever date they wish, regardless of convenience to any one of us.

Er.. anyone here would like to buy my umbrella?

I got one from MPEX, unboxed it, and found that I prefer my other one better.

The ad is here: http://tpmg.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?p=121216#121216

MPEX sells it for US$19.60 + shipping and taxes etc
I'm asking for CAD20.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I would definitely suggest to have SD and Jamesy there and if the event changes to a date that doesn't work, we'll definitely have another.

They've put in a lot of effort into this and its a great opportunity to have some mutual learning experience with everyone in one spot.

If it does change to Sunday, I may be able to stop by shortly but I won't be able to fully participate.
